I just recently did a trip cross country! Went from Charlotte to California up to Washington and everywhere in between. 7300 miles all total. Not all this glamping equipment is necessary but some of it does help. Rtt kept me off the ground in Moab away from the scorpions we saw several times. Thankful for that! The fridge keeps the food cold and from buying ice over and over! My awning gave us shelter from all the rain that decided to fall while in Colorado. Cold and wet doesn't mix so well! Maybe some of the "overlanding" equipment is silly or overkill but for me it isn't a "fad" it's a escape! I had a ground tent before my rtt for years. What did me in was my last trip to the OBX. Rained one night enough for a year and woke up in 2 inches of water. Also I stay a lot warmer in my rtt since it's not in contact with the ground which also helps when camping in the colder months. I understand overlanding isn't everyone's "thing" but neither is rock crawling or extreme off-road! Some like a mixture of both! Some don't know yet they just like to be outdoors. I've noticed some here are not fond of "overlanders" but we all have common interests. We like toyotas and we like the outdoors. No reason we can't get along!

Definitely something for everyone out there. The Expo itself is what's not for me, the equipment is fine. I've got a fridge, made my own awning, etc. There just really wasn't anything new in the 2 years I went. I'd like to give the West version a chance but probably won't go again for some time, maybe something new will come out to look at. In the mean time I will ponder over the Cummins r2.8... Can I borrow a few kidneys or other spare organs y'all might have?:pccoffee:

I'm just salty that I can't really afford a nice RTT at the moment, with a kid on the way in less than a month :(

Where are you located in Dallas? I'm in the lower end of Lincolnton (gaston co side) right off Hardin Rd/321.

Nice rig you got there! I'm sure I'll see you around at some point, I'm around that area often.

I work in University near Ikea and generally leave at 5pm, so I feel your pain. The commute sucks, especially in the mornings the last 3 weeks. Took me an hour and a half to get to Harris Blvd this morning. :frusty:

I'm sure you guys have seen but SOS is having a big 20% off sale right now, I'll be ordering a set of skids tonight and driving down to pick them up whenever they are ready. If anyone else is ordering stuff and needs it picked up let me know.

I reeeeally want that slimline bumper, even messaged Eddy about it with some questions last night. But I just can't make myself get it before skids. Have to get the bumper at the next sale!

Passed a Barcelona red tacoma this morning on the way home from work in Kannapolis. Looked to have three kayaks on top and a cooler in the back. Anyone on here?

I've got a 2012-15 grill for sale if anyone is in the market. Plastidip can be removed and it's chrome underneath. A couple of the little plastic tabs broke when removing it, but it's in great condition otherwise. No dents or scratches.

    $75 OBO -
