I was having an anxiety attack laying in bed thinking about this. I have to get my house ready to sell up here, find a temporary place to crash there and find a house. I have never sold either and only bought. We had our realtor walk through our current place 2 days ago and my work list increased lol!!

My wife was complaining the other day that we spent so much money on a fixer upper. I told her we could have spent a little more on a new house but would have been in an hoa with neighbors 10 feet away from you. House we bought has 3.3acres and all original from 1986.

Man that's pretty sweet! Our realtor wants our house emptied out, so that means I need all my crap packed, shipped and stored down in NC (company is paying for that) move into temp housing and look down there and HOPE my place here sells quick.

doesn't bother me too much...looks like a nice neighborhood and has a detached garage already...and a smaller yard which I want.

Just depends on how overbearing they are. Mine doesn’t really get in your business. In 7 years they only bugged me about not approving my roof replacement through them before beginning work.

They serve a purpose when your goofball neighbor decides to paint his doors and shutters seafoam green and plant an army of gnomes throughout his yard.

Personally didn’t bother me but if I was trying to sell this place and I had the seafoam Lord of the Rings playing out next door I’d have been kinda pissed. They made him repaint and move his gnomes.

I agree, HOA has a place. if they are overbearing that sucks, ours has been fine. The main benefit I see is it helps protect property values, prevents your neighbor from storing junk cars in the front yard etc.

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.
One dude in our neighborhood starts projects but never finishes. Swapped out his own windows for like a year. Over a year now he has been changing siding so large parts of the house haven’t had siding for months at a time. Nice guy. Just doesn’t get worried or in a hurry. Houses in the neighborhood sell fast and for good money even though you can go 2 miles and buy basically the same house new for less in several neighborhoods.

That’s what I can’t understand how does everybody get the money to afford these houses. I have a feeling most people are just buried in debt and will die with it.

Most people are yes. But part of why we can now afford a nicer house is because we busted ass to be 100% debt free. (aside from the houses which are assets not liabilities obv)

My parents shit a brick with how much we paid for our house, long gone are the days of "nice" $100k houses
