Just got word that our house we are selling appraised with no issues! Pretty pumped, sounds like the buyer didn't have the cash to make up the difference if it had been low so we'd have been in a tough spot.

I mean......if you are buying a house that expensive and can't come up with the difference had it appraised lower, I feel like you are destined to be house rich and money poor....maybe it's just me but if you are buying something close to 1M I feel like you should have a pretty good amount of cash in a savings account somewhere.......

Man you took the words out of my mouth, I said the exact thing to my agent last week. Sounds like they are going to be house-poor, but, I'm not the dudes financial adviser.

On avg in the US it costs 22tons of CO2 to produce an electric compared to 16tons for gas. Then for emissions output in the US it is roughly 34 tons compared to 32tons per yr. on avg. The other thing to consider is lifespan of electric vehicles is shorter as compared to a gas. You also have the ease and cheap expense of keeping them on the road for gas cars thus no continued mining or recycling of plastics, metals, waste of them being in land fills etc. There are many benefits to electric but they aren't what they are being held on a pedestal as which is the big grief.
It's not just that but lithium mining in general is some of the worst mining more so than coal or other precious metals. Not only the polution of the equipment but also the easy potential of a toxic "spill". There is no good answer. I've read some of the studies your friend sent you probably as my cousin was in the solar industry as well and we were discussing some of the downfalls to it and he showed me that information. Now if in NC we could get Duke to stop clear cutting forests for solar fields and just put them along the highway medians like lamp posts on sun trackers that would be even better. I'm a proponent of alternative energy and it's uses especially small scale homeowner and what not but the populous really needs to understand the whole story not just the crap that's being thrown out there.
Yes trains are a hybrid, diesel runs at one rpm(essentially) turning a generator to create power to then send to electric motors that push the train.

Tier 4 Cummins is mainly what we delt with. It was mostly in custom applications that ran for short periods of time or excessively idled due to their application, aircraft tugs and vehicles that generally never got above 15mph. We had some mobile genset applications and ones that ran mobile havac units. The units that were able to run for a long time at a mid to high RPM and not really idle were pretty reliable, when the diesels cant go into regen cycles they got pissy. I had to do maintenace Cost and reliability analysis and anything with a diesel was usually down and expensive to fix. I loved electric because it eliminated 2 major systems that usually failed. Yea the battery packs were expensive, but when you got rid of an internal combustion engine and usually a gear box, the battery was pretty cheap.

The regen cycles is what kills them even in OTR and truck/cars. All the emissions stuff really killed the previous run for ever one wire diesels of days past. I can only imagine what one that sits and idles looks like when torn down. Probably a melted mess.

Our mechanics at my former job were so overpaid and underqualified that it was cheaper and quicker to just pull the motor and swap in a new one in than to rebuild it onsite. We had only a few locations that would even attempt a rebuild and even fewer that actually did it correctly hahaha!! But yea I always wanted to get a picture of the insides, but typical Cummins, they would not.

Thanks!! Realtor thinks it will go for over list, which boggles my mind as it's a cookie cutter, 90s suburban house in a blue collar area surround by busy streets and warehouses...
