I’m going to agree and disagree with you in a few too many words: The homeless may want help but may not have the mental or physical capacity to do it on their own, so they do what most of us all do and do what works for them and makes them complacent. Has nothing to do with desire but all to do with ones ability to be comfortable in the life you have. Just like many others that can afford therapy as a means of life improvement and don’t. Not that it’s a necessity for survival, it’s just out of your comfort zone.

It’s not easy raising yourself from that level to the next, especially with limited means... so in a sense your right enablers don’t help, but neither do the shelters or ability to obtain gainful employment without a permanent residence.

My take is they aren’t trash people they just choose to live in a world they know. We look at them the same way @Bannerman looks at us. Just a few classes below! Either way all everyone is really driven off of is the necessity to survive, not the necessity to improve.

The trash people are the ones on the side of the road that aren’t homeless begging for your change making $120k a year on pity going back to their highclass apartments and life styles... think I also seen @Bannerman on exit 12 picking up his wife and homeless dogs in their new T4R!

Free food, no rent, no paying taxes, no worries about money...they are out there living their best life giving zero fucks.

Mental illness is a bad break. Very hard to help many of those people for sure. Not saying they should be abandoned but I don’t know the solution to fixing them. And unfortunately many of them can be dangerous. Y’all hear about that UPS driver that got shot and killed a couple weeks ago in Durham by a crazy guy? Super sad.
