I think that’s what I like best about where I work, I only drive a mile through S.C. right past the the best it has to offer, gas stations, Frugal McDougal, and fireworks stores on Carowinds Blvd.

Have you seen the pothole at the exit of Whitehall Commons next to 485? It is HUGE, somebody dropped a shopping cart in it to so people wouldn't get stuck in it

This is the mower I think I decided on, Gravely HD with a 44" cut.

They're making tweel options now for riding mowers, no more replacing lawnmower tires...

They had some of those at the dealership I was at Friday, pretty neat. I picked one up and was surprised at how light it was.

IIRC, Michelin has been testing them on vehicles for a few years now for R&D

Nice choice. I just bought a 52" Gravely ZT HD last week. It has a very comfortable ride and a nice smooth, even cut. I'm in the process of building a roller kit for it so I can maintain the striping that I get with my 1997 Cub Cadet 3000 Series tractor.

Before deciding on the Gravely, I looked at/ tested the Scag Liberty Z and Bad Boy ZT Elite, Bobcat ZT2000 and Encore Edge. I even drove a $8k Exmark commercial zero turn with a full suspension seat. It came down to the Gravely and Scag. Ultimately, I went with the Gravely because of the better transaxles, ride quality, larger front and rear wheels, and ease of access to clean and perform maintenance.

Great to hear. I looked at Scag, Exmark, Toro, Hustler, and Bobcat. Almost went with the ZT2000 but liked the bigger tires and casters on the HD and really wanted the 3100 pumps over the 2800s on the Bobcat. Wife is insisting whatever I get has ROPS so I was limited to light commercial or just a couple heavy residential models. I don't even have that big of a yard, 1.2 acres and only about 0.8 is grass but it's pretty hilly and divided into 9 different zones.

zero turns are the absolute worst choice if you have hills. you are limited to going up and down the hill, you aren't going to be able to mow side to side.

    speaking from experience.

    Thanks for your input.

Edit: I realize the above may have seemed a little dismissive. I logged about 500 hours on a 60" Bobcat ZT in highschool so I've got a fairly good idea of what they are capable of when it comes to hills. A stander would be a better choice but I don't want to spend $8k. There is only one part of the yard that I think a ZT will not handle and it's very small and can be cut with my Honda push mower.

Guy that we bought the house from payed $250 a month for grass cutting, even buying a $5500 mower, it's cheaper for me to do DIY. Plus, I like doing yardwork.

My yard has some pretty steep inclines as well. The Gravely handles it with ease, both up and down and side to side.

I work behind a computer all day. Yard work gives me an opportunity to get outside and exert physical activity. Plus, there is a sense of pleasure/ pride that comes with maintaining your own yard.

Mark Twain said, "Work consists of whatever a body is obliged to do. Play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do."

I wouldn't want to cut grass, work on engines, trim trees, etc for a living. But a couple hours a week on my own stuff is therapeutic for me.
