Hey guys this Saturday I’m doing a car and bike show at one of my bars in uptown Charlotte! Blocking off the street for about 1/4 mile. Will have everything from lambos, bikes to old school. Looking for a few more rigs to put in it other than mine! If anyone is around and interested let me know. Would love to have you there! Blocking off Carson blvd between S mint st and S Church st. Also got permit approved to have alcohol in the streets

    Unsure. I imagine 6-8 weeks.

Getting Aluminum, with Hoop and powdercoat. I will post some pics. the design will be this one, not the other 12-15 on the SOS website- (that was a prototype. Never mind the added license plate bracket above the fairlead)

Also getting alum IFS and Mid skids, and regular rear bumper. Already have SOS sliders and steel T-case skid.

Awesome. I have sliders and will soon have steel skids. Will probably go aluminum on the bumpers when the time comes.

Nice, I used to work on S. Mint right across from Little Hardware, never knew there was a bar on Carson.

You mentioned it’s “one of your bars”, so which other ones do you own?

If you decide to shop used for your skids, I have been seriously considering switching from steel skids to aluminum. I have the IFS, mid, and t-case from Pelfreybilt. You would need to reroute your exhaust though if you haven't already. Just let me know. Pics in my build.
Edit: After looking more into aluminum pricing, I'll keep what I have for now.

I would have taken you up on that but mine from SOS are already bought and paid for. Just waiting for them to be ready.

Why the thoughts on switching to aluminum skids? I’m in the market to get skids here soon. Trying to make the decision on either running steel or aluminum. My truck is a DD and I don’t rock crawl the truck every weekend and since steel is twice the weight of aluminum, thinking maybe a hybrid of both?

I would also be interested in the answer. I am in the same position as you, DD rarely on rocks but I think of skids as (relatively) cheap insurance against major damage. I was interested in aluminum but I dont like how rocks tend to "dig in" to aluminum vs slide like steel. When I ordered my SOS skids Eddy said the full set is about #150 lbs. I know that weight adds up but thats not much. I wouldnt go anything but steel on sliders either. But bumpers I probably will go Aluminum when the time comes.

I no longer use my truck as a "trail rig". Having skids is good insurance for those times I encounter bad spots, but steel is a bit over kill for my needs. I recently removed them for a couple days to do some maintenance, and that reminded me how heavy they are. Since I already have steel, I'll just leave mine alone.

I would say that steel is better if you plan on running trails for the sake of off roading. No matter how easy the trails, you will eventually be beating on them. If you just like exploring, aluminum would be fine for an occasional hit.
