I may poke around some but I already know as long as my wifes mother is alive we probably won't be going anywhere. Smart money would most likely be to wait and see where our girls end up anyway

So just pop the struts out, mount those to the top of the strut with stock hardware, and pop the struts back in using the supplied hardware to secure. Don't forget you'll need an alignment afterward and be a little careful off road or hitting big potholes as sometimes it can be ugly. It may make your ride a little more stiff in the front but ya won't know 'til you try it.

A lot depends on the county you are in. I was in Person county previously just across the Va border from S. Boston and my property tax was cheap. Move to Orange county (Chapel Hill area) it's one of the highest property taxes in the state. NC also has the Highest state Gas tax in the Southeast. Rockingham county is cheap (Va Border), but most of the Va border counties are fairly cheap property taxes even the ones that lake Gaston and Buggs Island (Kerr Lake) are in. Charlotte is the second largest banking city in the US so if that's your profession move around there. RTP (triangle, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) is big in the IT and technology, CREE LEDs is based there same with IRobot (roomba) as well as SAS. Also Cary is where the Cheez-it plant is . You can get quite a bit for the 250-300 price range depending on where you move.

Maybe if there's some local members that could help it's an easy mod day project. A few could work together to knock out some stuff or maybe some beer and pizza could be involved. It's nice to have somebody there who knows what they're doing but do it yourself it's the only real way to learn and it's fun!

Loosen up the lower control arm bolts at the frame and the upper control arm bolt at the frame so they can swing freely. Then snug them back up lower the truck back on the ground jounce it several times then tighten those bolts completely so it doesn't bind the bushings.

I'm gonna look some all my side of the family is from Greensboro and Burlington, not that I have anything to do with them, and my FIL lives just below Asheville so fairly familiar with the area, kinda.

Ha never tried that. I just drop the sway bar and pop the upper ball joint and lower the LCA. Remove the strut and flop it back in doesn't take long at all really.

The counties that follow the 40,85 and 95 corridors require a smog insp. no biggie just plug into obd2. Also those counties are more expensive property tax wise. I live in Burlington and am looking in the counties just off the interstate corridor drops 1% or more just one county over. I tend to look at everything I do in a very methodical way and analyze every aspect of it. Asheville is pretty awesome and has some sweet local breweries.

Yep Asheville is a cool place and I love Brevard where FIl lives it's just a bit far from the beach for me. Hell I could live at the beach or at least near it

If you don't loosen the frame mounting bolts when you raise or lower a vehicle it puts the bushings in a bind (twists) which is one reason a lot of people are seeing as much settling as they are. Plus if you read a repair manual every manufacturer says to use this method and never torque bushed suspension bolts until the full weight of the vehicle is on them. I have put close to 5k miles since my lift and have see less than an 1/8" of settling.

You can get a lot for the 250-300 in the areas about 30 min or so from the beach

 makes sense and not difficult hell you have to get an alignment anyway. I know I didn't torque my UCA bolts until after it was on the ground.

That's kinda what I was thinking. My wife would like to live about a block from the beach but hurricane and flood insurance would kick our asses

You can't get flood ins in parts of the NC coast anymore. We have a beach place and cannot get flood ins. There were shystery deals made with the gov't and ins. companies to rebuild after a hurricane to be able to rebuild. The state had condemned rebuilding but people, ins companies, wanted to rebuild but the ins companies didn't want to cover the property anymore it was a mess. There is a lot to it.

sounds like it. This kinda stuff is why I was thinking just a little way inland. Where would you be though if you were 3-4 hours from the outer banks into NC?

So hard to choose armor and on the right coast we really only have these 2 choices without paying an arm and leg in shipping. It's nice because both are a close enough drive to save a bunch of $$$ in shipping.
