I wish the boys in the Triad would chat!!! I'm stuck either with Charlotte or the Raleigh! But it's fun.

As far as wrench days go every time I hosted or participated most wanted me to work on their stuff knowing that I was a tech I would help but not do the work. A lot of what I did was guide or help if needed that wayi t taught them how to do stuff .

That's kinda how it should be IMHO. How else are they going to learn. Most here just want you to do it for them. When it comes to welding or fabbing stuff that's a little different and even if they want to help there's not much they can really do. We usually charge a little for the welding and fab work as there's consumables to be replaced and well I'm just not rolling around on the flor burning sliders on or doing cmc's for free. I've never taken any money but left it to the host as he would do half the work and it was his equipment. And, prices were always way less than others were charging. It's not good enough anymore though as it was beginning to be expected for free so it's not done anymore.

We would weld and stuff for free at the same time teach them how to weld cut and fab the easier parts but do the harder parts for them.

Oh I don't have any problem teaching folks I have several times. Mostly these guys don't want to learn they just want it done. Besides welding little things or even scabbing on CMC plates might be ok but IDK if I'd want them welding sliders together or burning them onto the frame. Besides, I love welding when ever I can. :welder:

I had a welder here at home but sold it. Welding and fab work is the majority of my job anymore. Hell IDk if I'll ever be able to do the body and paint work anymore. I bought too small of a welder and should have known better but I did trade it for a plasma cutter. The guy I used to work with built a fab shop close by so when I need to do my own stuff I just go over there he was kind enough to give me an open invite. I contributed a couple of things to the shop and of course he has use of my plasma cutter whenever he needs it. I still need a wleder here. I don't really like the idea of welding i the garage as it's attached to the house though. They keep telling me to build a metal shop crap I'd be out there all the time my wife would never see me.

I like it. I don't have any need for word done on my truck right now but it would be fun to attend a mod day to get dirty and learn a few things myself.
