Haha well, family was from NC, we stayed with relatives in NJ for 3 months and I was born during that time. Then moved to Virginia, then Florida, then back to NC when I was about 9. Been here since then but I’ve travelled all around the US and Canada on trips.

Looks like my theory was wrong about this thread though. Or folks are being quiet :D

I visited cousins who lived in Lompoc on one of my trips, loved the weather there. California is beautiful in most places Bakersfield being an exception haha.

Got so damn frustrated with it i threw it off about 30min before that pic was taken. The safety police can flame away. My hard hat was the least of my worries that day.

Yeah only a hard hat can save you from a fall from a man basket o_O
One place I worked we had a safety guy we called the Safety Nazi, he finally went overboard too far once too many times and they fired him.

I know jack shit about construction safety! I need to start studying, the head of the safety department had a call with me Monday asking me how much I know about it and if I would enjoy construction safety......
LOL!!! Yea it baffles my mind some of the shit my peers get spooled up on.
I'm the polar opposite of a safety Nazi, i take more of a "this place has to make money, let me try to minimize risk and make it easy for everyone" type approach and that has worked well for me. I was working with some college students while I was consulting and my biggest piece of advice to them going into the safety was "don't be a douchebag, and you will be successfull".

First off, they are the largest hiring group we have today and ranging from 25-40 years old. From what I have experienced and with some multi-generational training understand what makes them tick, what makes GenX'ers and Boomers work well together. Dissing another generation 99.9% of the time makes a person sound foolish especially if your the generation before them. I shake my head when GenX'ers diss Millennials, since we raised them to be what they are today.

Hiring the "right" Millennial is key and how to make them stay. Let's be honest, we all have worked with someone that is difficult in a various generations.

    To break it down quickly:

    -Tech is strong
    -Value relationships at work
-Enjoy time off and will work hard for it.
    -Competitive and handle change well.
-Free thinking and like to learn.

In power generation, this is a good thing. We pay a journeyman legman 35-37.00 per hour which is considered an entry level position. Then they work towards control room operator 42-48.00, then move to a lead control room operator/supervisor 48-56.00.

In my experiences, if management doesn't treat them well, millennials will tell you to stick the money were the sun don't shine and go find something else rather quickly.

Been here less than a year. I came from a "village" in Illinois, Bolingbrook home of weathertech, that had 75,000 people, close to a million within a 10mile radius. I live in that area my whole life and it SUCKED!!!!!! You don't have to worry about me bringing any of that bullshit down here. I hated evreything about living up there besides the food. I will say it will make me appreciate wherever I live that isn't there. The people at work ask why I don't live near Charlotte, F-That!!!!! I lived near a big city, been there, got the tshirt, I'm good.... I'll take where I'm at now any day over living in or near a big city. The people are nice here, the scenery is beautiful, and fairly stress free, just need more food options lol!!!

I’m right between Hickory and the big city of Charlotte. Hickory’s growing too, but west or North and it’s less populated and nice scenery as well.
