True Catawba River runs a long way through many lakes but pretty sure he was talking downstream of lake Norman. If Lake Norman gets contaminated with ash there’s going to be a lot of millionaires and regular people and billions of dollars of property owners upset. No ones afraid to move to the lake if they can afford it. I would worry more about being hit by a meteorite myself, I have some former coworkers working on the monitoring and ash basin closures and there’s some good work on that. But yeah, stay away Denver’s crowded enough as it is

 

It’s not the lake water that’s contaminated, they used fly ash as infill for a lot of municipal projects. Of course Duke says there’s nothing wrong there.

 

A) deny that what they did is wrong or harmful

or

B) confirm that it is harmful and have to pay out billions upon billions in damages.


I think I know which option I would choose.

And yes I'm plenty far away from Denver and staying put!!. I'll stare at my golf green in my back yard surrounded by a wall of trees, look at the mountains one way and a lake the other way!!

My favorite Lake to fish in my younger years was Lake James, mountain views and undeveloped at the time. Then Duke formed a real estate subsidiary and started selling land on all the lakes for development, hated that. I was actually there once while they were filming scenes for Last of the Mohicans, had a fort built across from where we put in our boat, great times.

 

I am sure they will find a way for taxpayers to pay for it as well.

 

All you need to know is who owns the power plants doesn't matter if you're a part of a cooperative or not if you don't own the plants that produce the power. All you have is a collective for bargaining on rates they can still go up if the provider raises their rates.
