I'd probably take WY off that list. They are about to be a world of hurt. Primary industry is coal and the current administration is pretty much shutting them down. Population is dwindling yet somehow home prices are rising. Other areas of industry are shrinking labor forces due to reduced demand. It's in a downward spiral and my BiL, who moved from NC to WY, is looking to get out before the inevitable happens.

I just got back from HI this morning. After being there a week, I have no desire to live there or on an island. And my AMEX got a major workout. Everything is SO expensive there.

My brother lives over there (chairforce) and I don’t really have a desire to visit with 2 young kids.

Meh there's a lot to do there. When I was there in 01 I worked a cattle ranch.

Hell yea this will definitely help! I've been hearing a lot more gun shots around my house, I'm glad people will see signs and think twice now.

That shooting at the beauty store at Tyvola/South Blvd. last week was a couple hundred yards from my house. Happened right before rush hour, I'm lucky I jumped on the side streets before getting caught in the traffic. Cars were lined up down my street for 2 hours. It was a mess.

How bad is the NC drivers license process from another State?

I'm thinking I am in for a nightmare?

Is it as easy as surrendering you current DL like just about all other states?

I did it in 2005, I dont recall it being too much of a problem. May need an appointment. I do remember I had to do the vision test.

DEFINITELY make an appointment. Had a friend make an appointment for 8. 4 people had been standing outside since 6am. DMV peep walked by them and said no guarantees those without the appointment were seen that day when they opened at 8

Yeah, I went and got real ID in 2019 didn't have an appointment and I got there at 6:30 am and they opened at 8 am and there was 15 in line already @ 7:00 80 people in line. Still took me 5 hours and when I left those same people were still in line plus about 70 more DMV folks came out and said "if your not in by 2 pm you will have to come back another day.....

Wife and I just did this recently, moved from Wisconsin to North Carolina, she was in and out, mine took a little longer since I have a CDL, really wasn’t bad. As others said, make an appointment, some are 1-2 months out, found one 30 minutes away with an opening first thing the next day, so I grabbed it right away.

I went through this last year and it was easy. I was expecting hell coming from the People's Republic of Illinois, but NC was super easy and the people are friendly, at least at the hickory location. Your experience may vary. My wife had an expired Illinois licences and I think it took her less time than me.

Moved here back in late Summer 2018 w my daughter and it was quite problematic (super long lines....appointments like 4 months out locally in the RTP), depending on where we tried to go and get the D/L.

Ended up shopping around the rural DMV offices for one that didnt have much of a wait - ended up at Smithfield.

Very spoiled coming from TX where there are these massive DMV supercenters and you can sign up for an appt online and then they text you day of when you should leave for your appt based on how far away you live.
