So today inquired about my concealed carry permit and was told 9 month wait WTF!!!

 

I also had my windows checked and according to this I am good but the inspection station said "NO" I was what the fuck State website says 32%!

 

Find a different inspection station or ask them to show you their measurement of level of tint.

Do you have a CCW from your previous state? Check to see if we have reciprocity. BTW NC is an open carry state no permit req'd. Was it just because you're a new resident, did they tell you to take the CCW course?

Do the CCW course first then file the paperwork at the sheriffs office in the county you live. Every county is different. NC is a shall issue state but certain counties like to lollygag for reasons we aren't allowed to express on here without a ban.

 

Yes I have VA,FL and Utah all are reciprocal but in order to purchase a firearm in need a pistol purchase permit or a CCW and NC DL and pistol purchase permits are taking 4/6 months as well I was informed. I am a new resident and no they didn’t take my currents permits.

 

A lot of places I am going to won’t even check it before want me to have the inspected then I’m in the database…. I have a 14 months on my tags and license so it’s either medical or it’s going to be a long time before I get tags…..

 

that’s probably for the appointment to turn in your application. Mecklenburg county is stupid backed up since they are “appointment only” for applications.

By law the county has 90 days once you turn in the application to approve or deny it.

 

Mecklenburg seems to be the worst I’m hearing…..

 

I took the course but have never went by the sheriff office to turn in my application and pay the fee. I should do that.

 

It's probably the county you're in. I'd apply and rock what you got now.

 

Mecklenburg does not care about the law it seems…. This is the time I was told before the permit is issued I enquired for the class 8 hrs and then you call get an appointment and move forward…..

 

Them and Durham maybe orange and Wake on that list. In fact any non-native majority county is bad these days.

 

They found the grey area in the laws and are using it to their advantage. Look into grassroots NC we've been doing a lot of work to try and fix issues like that.

Yup found that out the hard way myself a few months ago.

Been waiting on a pistol permit for probably three months now, thankfully my local gun shop was cool and let me ship it to a “responsible citizen” to do the transfer.

I wonder what would happen if you had to use a concealed firearm to defend your life while you were waiting on your county to issue you your CCW.
