Just to clarify, you guys didn't need to drill out anything using these, right ? I ask because I don't own the tools to drill metal so need something that's "plug-n-play".

The Amazon reviews indicate that some drilling is required.

If mounting on the bedside cubbies, no modification needed.

Excellent idea. I will use the mod to hold gas can for mower, and 20 lb propane tanks on trips from store to home. I have been using a "Rube Goldberg" system involving a bungy cord, the rail rack holder, and bed ring. Finally a modification that actually is useful and makes sense!

The D rings from Amazon have a 3/8" mounting hole. The bolt used to secure it is 6mm, too much wiggle room. I used 1/4"ID x3/8"OD bushings to take up most of the wiggle room......

Hmmm ... this is consistent with the Amazon reviews too regarding fitting. Except the rings have a 13/32'' mounting hole.

Regarding fit I suppose I could just get different bolts to replace the stock ones in the bed.

The other issue I had with these D rings is that when exposed to the elements, they will rust..... don't know if they will fare any better under a tonneau cover.....

Good call! My rings came in today. Super heavy duty and no modification required as they are the perfect size for the stock bolts in the bed compartment.

I ordered 8 and one was slightly out of spec - too large. All in all, I'm happy.

I bought the "Husky 1 in. x 10 ft. Locking Tie-Down with S-Hooks" from Home Depot. The can is very secure and its not going anywhere - i took sharp turns on the way home to verify. Word of advice, avoid the straps with the large ratcheting mechanism as it hinders your ability to tie the can down tightly. A simple buckle as shown in the pictures is adequate.

The hole on the ones I got from Amazon were too large for the bolts so I bought fender washers at local hardware store and used those for install. Works fine and was cheap fix.

You might consider a Master Lock Python lock. I use them to lock our yaks together as well as anything in the bed. They are a cable lock that could be defeated with a bolt cutter, but anything can be defeated. It'll keep honest people honest.....

What type of bolts/fasteners are these cubbies held in with? I ordered the tie downs but dont have any tool to take the bolts out. What did you all use ?
