Greetings Tacoma fans. Quick and easy rear window security tip for you.. I used a small pipe cutter, to trim an old aluminum arrow shaft, to fit the rear window rail; creating a sturdy lock for my rear slider. Pictures attached. Hope this helps someone.

Cool... I never thought of someone wanting, or actually opening the rear window and getting into the truck...
Does that happen a lot in the U.S.?

The plastic clip is the only thing keeping them out otherwise. I'm not sure how popular of an entry point the rear window is but I figured "better safe, than sorry".

Allegedly you can press hard inward from the outside to release the plastic clip and gain access. I keep a small dowel rod in place to prevent it. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Good idea, but even if someone opened the sliding glass, would they even be able to get in without breaking the glass anyways? It seems like only a small child might get through

Exactly. It's a few bucks at Home Depot and a coat of paint.

Yeah I don't even think Rico's head would fit in the opening.

My mountain guide got all his $7000 worth of gears stolen. I think the thieves might have gone in this way.

Just happened to me, parked in a parking garage, backed in. Grabbed my backpack with laptop from the front seat. Either long arms or a tool or who knows, but it sucks. Never occurred to me that this was something to worry about.

    I know, I know!
A wooden oak dowel, cut to the right length will do the trick too. Wrap it in electrical tape for the stealth look and longevity.

Also if you cut it the length of the track, a small tape tap makes it easier to take out and put back as needed.

Is this not a common solution? That used to be the only real sliding door security back in the day.

I do this at home with wooden dowels cut down to size for windows & sliding back door. If you cut them down a lil short then you can still open enough to get some fresh air

People around here looking to take shit break the window. They don't gently sneak into a tiny hole from the bed. All this will do is screw me when I lock the keys inside.

You can go into lowes and get a long wooden dowel for less than a dollar and make 4 of these :)

Brilliant! I grabbed a fresh carpenter's pencil and dropped it in the slot.
