This thread has legs, thought it died about a year ago, thought the seller got busted for something? I dunno. Not so cheap anymore.....

yay if you want a cheap bumper. not the best quality, but not terrible. i've had mine for about a year with no issues on my 2012 DCSB. have yet to winch from it or be pulled out by it though, so can't comment on that. looks nice and is pretty stout though.

Anyone grab one lately? I know they are 5 piece, but is the design different then what is pictured?

 

I got one of these, but it came damaged from shipping. Seller on ebay OEWheelsDirect. The bumper came in 2 boxes, which are very heavy. The seller prior to buying it says its 10 gauge steel and weighs 170 lbs. Yikes! No wonder why it came damaged bc no one can lift the box. The main part of the bumper came with the mounting ends both bent so I was unable to install. Its very hard to bend back but even if that was possible its now lost some strength. I haven't gotten a reply from the seller. The Boxes did have DV8 on them manufactured in China. Even a DV8 invoice and the phone number matches DV8 Offroad website. Their phone system is currently down though unfortunately. I have written DV8 twice now saying I got the bumper and it was damaged and still no reply from them either. Here are a few photos.

 

Look into opening a case with ebay and/or paypal. I think if the item is wrong or damaged it's on the seller to cover return shipping, get you a replacement or refund.

 

I plan to, but I'll have to go buy boxes that will hold this amount of weight, you can see they were held together with those heavy straps. No Idea how to get this shipped back. I told the seller to send me new boxes since they were so damaged. Not their fault completely but the quality of boxes (typical china boxes) cannot support this weight. I do plan to get my money back and know very well I am covered with ebay buyer protection and paypal for that matter. Just sucks though, I was going to give it shot and here this happens and I wont have it on in time for ATR. Appalachian Toyota Round Up in TN next week. Also got my winch today, but no bumper now to mount it in!! rant over

 

Love the original one. Can’t comment on the new 5 piece design.

 

I see your problem that sucks. I wouldn't just though hoops to get new boxes if it was me, just yet anyways.
IMO there is a good chance they will either send you a replacement part, whole new bumper or just a refund. I shipping back a damaged bumper might be more headache then it's worth for them. Pickup at a residential address is a surcharge plush the freight cost itself, and then they are now stuck with a broken bumper they can't sell.

 

I agree. I was straight forward with them and told them what should happen in their best interest. I asked for a replacement center piece and I'll forgive the scratches on the first box that came damaged. If it were all cosmetic its not a huge deal but this they need to take care of it. Just hoping they reply.

 

Mine came in with some scratches and they responded pretty quick. I think they refunded me a few bucks and sent a rattle can of bed liner.
Also, 170 lb seems too heavy. I think mine was around 120 lb.

 

Was it the 1 piece or the 5 piece? I know the 1 piece is 120lbs.. not sure why the weight difference. Other than thicker steel.

 

Mine is an earlier gen - 1 piece and no AC line notch.
