Cheap, but effective LED backup lights?

Looking for something similar to the LED reverse lights made by rigid, small but powerful. Anyone want to share thoughts, ideas or experiences? Thanks

Idk.. are you looking for bulb replacements or separate aux lights?

I'm planning on cutting out some squares in the stock bumper and flush mounting some 8" evo prime (clone)bars. 10 watt leds rated at 3440 lumens each. But they're $90 for a pair. I have some 'projector' style led bulbs in for reverse lights now and they are significantly brighter than stock bulbs. But even with slightly tinted lenses AND my 5% window tint, I can't see unless I'm looking in the side mirror with window down. So aux bars/pods it is. I don't think the little square pods or and especially the little Sr or whatever rigid has would be enough for me.

Some people have used this style aux led with good results. Low profile. Not sure on this specific light but they claim high lumens. And pretty cheap..

Yeah that's the ones I was looking for! Those are cheap!! I might have to give those a try instead. Was really wanting to flush mount the other ones I was planning on. But $30 for a pair and all the great reviews, I might have to sacrifice looks for cost! Hmmmm...

 

I'm torn on whether to get spot or flood. Flood would be more practical, but the intensity is much worse than the spot, at least from looking at the reviewers' pictures

 

Well I would say flood for reverse. You really don't need that long of a distance, unless yer racing in reverse

 

Yeah but check out the pics, the flood kinda sucks. Not sure if they'd cut through my tint enough. I guess I could try the flood and if they do suck, I could use them for something else. Wish there were more output pics. Most of the people that reviewed the lights take pictures of the lights themselves with them turned on. No one wants to see that! Lol

 

Hmm Idk... I think ima pass on those cheapos. Reading through more reviews and see they aren't sealed well. Condensation issues. No thanks. I'll be looking into flush mount pods with bolted on lenses. Or the $90 8" pair I was considering.

I'll be doing some heavy fleabay browsing so I'll post anything I find

 

Those Amazin lights are all you really need. Don't have to spend $$$ for something you won't use as much as a front mounted light.

 

I'll probably take them apart and silicone any possible openings.

 

For what it's worth, I bolted a pair of those cheapo Amazon bars under my rear bumper as aux backup lights. I did add my own silicone around the lenses before installing though. They've held up for about a year now.

 

I have 5% in the rear and 20% up front installed some led reverse lights and it did the trick for me still kinda dark but I can see when parking now

 

Oh.. well.. Maybe I'll take back what I said about the negative reviews. For one I just had a good word put out regarding the 6" Amazon bars from dirtjumper. Said he's had them for 4 years and no issues. For two, yer right regarding the price. Worth it to take extra sealing measures and even purchase more if any fail.

But.. I do still want a flush mounted option myself so I'll post up once I get er done

 

I tripled my light output by installing 894 fog light bulbs. Not Leds, but much cheaper!

 

I used I think 886 fog bulbs in my taillights. Light output is so much better.

 

Both work. 886 is 50 watt, 894 is 38 watt. I went with the lower wattage as it was still an improvement but would run a little cooler. One of my favorite mods

 

Hmm, if you guys are running 50 watt bulbs on the stock wiring, I could probably get those aux lights and splice directly into the reverse light wiring. Saves the hassle of running relay wire all the way to the battery. Do those 886 bulbs work with first gens?
