In case anyone is looking for some nice cheap gear cases for camping etc. Skycraft Surplus in Orlando has these survey equipment cases in various sizes, your choice for $49.95 each. The fit well in the short bed between the wheel wells. This is their current stock as of 4pm on Wednesday. They even had a few with damaged wheels for only $20
They even have foam inserts but they’re cut for survey equipment.

    Get em’ while they’re here!

This is the one they had the most of and they fit perfectly between the wells.
The others would be too long to fit width wise. This was one of the discounted ones for $20 it’s missing the wheels and has more wear, but still functional for my needs and the price was right! The other non discounted ones were in better condition.

They only had 3 more left of this size. It’s too long to fit width wise between the wheel wells, didn’t try it behind the wheel wells. This one looks almost unused.

And this was the only tall long one they had, it fits the length of the shirt bed perfectly. They did have short height ones off to the side in this length. (Similar to the height of the first one I posted between the wheel wells)

And lastly a pic of the 3 sizes I purchased stacked. Yes, they have stacking grooves to easily stack.
Hope some of you guys can put these to use. I know I will!

This place has been there forever and they've regularly got cool stuff like this. It's cool to see a business like this survive for so long.

I know, it’s cool to shop there and see so many other people getting those odd things to either fix stuff or create stuff. It’s nice to know there’s a place for that rare breed of people to fuel their creative needs. I follow them on Facebook and that’s where I saw they had these.
So, upon taking the foam inserts out of my cases I found some neat paperwork. It appears these cases were from Faro Arm. An automated, high precision inspection arm used to Q.C. parts, they’re based in Lake Mary. What made it cooler is the calibration ticket pointed ownership of the arm to Tesla Motors in California.

That's pretty cool. I need to head over there. I haven't been there in years. I can always use more gun cases :)

FYI, if you go poking through them, make sure you find ones without the foam glued in. I got 2 without them glued in, which was awesome, but the 3rd had some nasty spray in glue holding that foam in. I spent quite some time and effort with my mineral spirits and rags removing that stuff.
But I’m happy to report they’re filled with gear and ready for adventures. The middle sized one I pictured fits awesomely behind the wheel wells.
