I haven't been happy with any other cell phone mounts until I figured out how to make this one. I am really happy with this one.

I found this cheap $6 cell phone holder on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6VKZY88?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details.

I read the complaints about the crappy adhesive, so I replaced the adhesive with the good, red-backed 3M tape after I got the holder.

I bought a spare key blank for my Tacoma and bent it over 90 degrees. I had a spare scrap of flat ABS plastic the size of the bottom of my phone, so I put the holder corners on my phone and pressed the ABS plate onto the holder corners and bolted it all onto the bent key:

I plugged the key into the air bag switch, and now I have a well placed, sturdy cell phone holder. It does block the emergency flasher switch a little bit, but I don't really care about that:

It works really well for me.

So when you turn your phone sideways to watch a video while driving and inadvertently turn off your passenger airbag then crash they won’t be protected and your hazards are blocked so no one sees you in distress and a multi-car pileup ensues.

Naah I’m just kidding, that’s creative. I dig it.

Thanks. BTW, it's an uncut key blank so it can't turn the switch.

Got one in my Subaru and like it. But the Subaru has a cupholder built into the door too, so I don't mind giving up a cupholder. The Tacoma only has two cupholders so I don't want to give one up. Plus this is much cheaper and more at eye level.

I have the weather tech one. I think I’d much rather have your setup.

I keep the Weather Tech in my work truck. Works great!
