That is too low to mount the gps. Try those magnetic mount you can buy on Amazon or ebay. Like this. uploadfromtaptalk1454831291607.jpguploadfromtaptalk1454831297049.jpg

I made a GoPro style mount for my Garmin. I love it up there personally. image.jpg

Total cost was less than $10.

like a dummy I assumed that the big square screen for the rear camera had a built in nav system... it does not?

Installed Cooper At/3's (265/70R16) and ProComp 7089 Rims. Tinted front windows. Did the Fog Light Anytime mod. Did the tailgate mod. Added running boards. Adding sound Deadening from RAAMaudio. Replacing stock speakers with Polk Audio DB6501's.
Nav is an option. Not all headsets have it. When you get it, you pay Toyoya $200/update to update the maps. Most Garmins now come with free lifetime updates.

Beside this, Toyota navigation is not the best. On my Venza, I use the phone to actually navigate and get directions. I follow the map using the onboard screen.

if it have a nav we probably wouldnt be so creative. it pretty convienient for me really. I track the speed limit in unfamiliar places, if i need to save a location quick, it faster then google map or apple map.

For off-roading, the factory Nav doesn't hold a candle to a Garmin with TRAX Maps plugged in. I factory Nav is only good pavement pounding and mall crawling.

I'll post some better pics of my set-up with a parts list next week.

Has anybody tried one of these "JucyPower" cup holder mounts? Has extra power sockets for 12V and USB, but the device holder (the slot on the back) looks rather fragile, and the GPS would probably jiggle, unless velcroed down:

Yea ... the visibility maybe bad ... too low ... but any [usb] port in a storm.
Would definitely appreciate more info on the magnetic and GoPro mounts mentioned earlier!

Okay Fellas, here's a breakdown of the parts I used to mount my GPS to the factory GoPro mount. image.jpg

    image.jpg

    Both from Amazon.com

You'll also need a 10/32 thumbscrew measuring 3/4 to 1" in length. I found mine at the local ACE hardware store for $1.90.

Put it all together an voila!

The hard-wire kit isn't necessary but sure makes for a cleaner install. (No dangling wires)

With GPS installed, the passenger still has full function of the visor without interfering with the GPS and it doesn't obstruct the passengers view even if they're 6'5" tall.
