best day of someone getting their campershell is when they buy it. the second best day is when they sell it.

I have often tried to figure out a strategy to get rid of my shell just due to the extra maintenance and decreased ability to carry tall loads. I just can't figure out how to make it happen. I put so much freaking gear back there that needs to be covered. A $500 RC car flew out the back and that was the tipping point for me.

I use the racks on top of the shell all the time. If I had a soft topper I'd need one of those rack contraptions anyway which kills the dirtbike/tall item loading and the setup still doesn't have the security to lock up my bicycles at the beach.

This is exactly what i need.
Security to lock up my bike at the beach, and also carry tall loads when needed.
    Cant find anything that exists

Don't we all man... When I have a big boy house of my own my dream is to have a winch system in the garage to lift the shell off and make some sort of electrical quick disconnect. That way I can put the shell on relatively quickly for trips and leave it off the rest of the time.

Yakima Overhaul HD + ReTrax hard tonneau combo is really the only thing out there that serves almost all purposes. I have same issues but man it's a $$$$ setup. I have a Thule xsporter and the rack raises up high enough (or comes off) easy enough for dirt bikes/tall stuff...overhaul I imagine would work the same.

Are those one-piece side windows, so no screens? That would get pretty warm camping.
