From what I've seen, most of these adapter instructions say not to charge while playing. Not necessarily poor setup but nature of adding an adapter to something that didn't already have the capability built in.

I would so love to do this mod...but I have a feeling I would break something or accidentally create a CD-time machine or something like that. lol

^^HAHA nah man as long as you note everything you take apart and assemble it the same way everything will go so smooth....I think someone said before you really would have a hard time shorting anything out because of the location of the solder points....simple solder technique and some patience will go a long way....I have only soldered wires and LED's before this and it was very easy...the taking apart and putting back together is the "Hardest" part....you never know until you try...I gotta post pics from mine I took so many but my camera is not in my possession my girl uses it for school and I will have them up eventually!

The soldering I'm not worried about (I'm the Mac Daddy at that lol), it's all those damn bits and pieces, and me having a different system.
But oh well, maybe I'll grow some hair on my peaches and do this mod some day.

Ha ha, its really not that bad like it was said before. So far every unit has had the left and right channel labeled so you shouldn't have trouble find the solder points. this would be a good mod to learn to solder on. Just watch the video I posted a while back or youtube search how to solder. Its a piece of cake. Good luck, we'll be here to help.

Check out the pics from Sandman614 post #20. His unit is a single disc non-jbl.

Just got finished with this mod! Works great, except I think the cd player doesn't sound as good, but maybe I'm just hearing things.

Ran into a lot of little problems, and that dash was a pain to get off and on. Very surprised in myself that I was able to put it all together without losing any screws or breaking anything. But it's installed and ready to go.

I took pics while taking it apart, and I would recommend it for anyone that will do this mod, so you can use it to help you put everything back together.

Thanks for everyone who put pics up and stuff.

What makes you think the CD player sound quality is worse, can you be more descriptive? Do you notice a difference when you play the radio or aux in? Let us know maybe we can help. Good job getting it to work though.

Yeah I think it was because I kept the I-pod wire attached, seems to be OK after.

Cool, glad this thread could help you. Where did you end up mounting your AUX jack?

My 2006 non jbl main circuit board looks exactly the same as yours, but my CD board is a bit different. I would post a picture but my camera cannot take a close up in focus. Anyone know if I can solder the same contact points on my 2006 non JBL 6-disc circuit board(see second picture below from Sandman) as on this 2006 single disc non-JBL?

    Thanks

its sounds like the 6 disc jbl and the 6 disc non-jbl are very similar. My suggestions for you is if you don't want to solder at the points I used, try finding the RCH and LCH solder points then follow the ribbon wiring on to the next board and solder it there. Let me know if this helps.

OK found the RCH and LCH on the CD circuit board. A bit shaky on the trace to the main stereo board. Since my stereo board looks exactly the same as Sandman's, is it a safe bet that I can make the connection at the same points as on his stereo board? They are also a bit bigger than the CD board contacts. I was finally able to get a picture of the CD board. Should be in this post. My first file upload to this forum, so I hope it worked.
