01-04 most certainly came with 265/75/16 from the factory as far as I know and was told they won't rub at all.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
It will if it's an agressive A/T or M/T, my ST Maxx's in that size rub a little but only on the driver's side frame closest to my door because the steering box and everything on that side requires the frame to be a tad wider than the passenger side. The tires have to be cranked all the way to the left to get that effect though so it's very easy to live with it. I do like the 75's size on the stock truck height and the way it fills in the wheel wells nicely to make it look manly.

if they came that way then why won't they run? that statement contradicts itself.

That was supposed to say rub. Fat fingers and iPhone sometimes don't work well.

Talked to a guy that had the Goodyear authorities today. So far I've heard nothing but good things about them so I think that's what I'm going with.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should open up a Walmart credit card or just wait until I have the money. Since I'm 18 and in college full time and work at Walgreens, I don't have a lot of money to spend on my truck lol

Bump, but today my buddy called me and let me know that he had just got a new set of tires, and was selling his Toyo Open Country AT 2 tires with about 65% tread. They are 265/75/16 and he said he would sell them to me for $300.

Is this a good deal? Does anybody have any experience with these?

its ok. if they are worn even and will hold air... they are pretty pricey to buy new.
also they are not a M/T at all... i have heard a lot of good things about the open country AT 2 from people who have heavy diesel trucks...

According to the window sticker, my '01 TRD SR5 came with BFGoodrich 265/70/R16 tires. It's all stock now, except I currently have BFGoodrich K2 A/T 265/70/R16 and they rub just a tiny bit sometimes when the wheel is turned all the way. The truck is new to me and I haven't done much with it but drive it around town, so I don't know how bad the rubbing might get with significant suspension travel. There are absolutely no rub scars on the tires after about 10,000 miles, so I'm not worried.

Well I went and looked at the toyos today... They're really not what I'm looking for so I passed that up.

Then I saw a truck with Kenda Klever Mt's, looked those up and saw that they were really cheap. They look good too. Anybody know anything about them?

i tried it when my dcab was stock and they rubbed bad enough to make me get a spacer lift... i know side by side, a dcab sits a bit lower than an xcab and reg cab...

if you decide to still upsize the tires, be prepared to either deal with the rubbing or be open to doing a small lift... tires i have tried were Yokohama Geolandar, Cooper STT (2 sets), Firestone Destination MT, BFG KM2 (2 sets), and now General Grabber (2 sets)...

I don't know if it's because of the 4x4 vs prerunner but my cousin had a set of 265/75-16 on a 2004 Xcab prerunner, rubbed the fender terrible with any dips and sharp turning, put the exact same set on my truck off of his (wheels and all) and they didn't rub when the suspension was compressed and barely touched the frame when turning.

Both bone stock trucks, close to or just under 100K miles on both, mine is a 4x4 Dcab TRD and his is a 2004 prerunner Xcab.

luck of the draw maybe? every other Dcab i knew had rubbing issues with 265-75 on stock suspension, 4x4 and prerunner...

I'm running kenda klever mts on my truck. I can't complain at all. The traction off road is awesome. They do great on wet and icy roads also. The only drawback I've seen is the road noise, but you're going to have that with any MT.

Well this is crazy. Some people saying the rub is barely noticeable, others saying it's bad.

Making my decision even harder, as if I'm not already indecisive enough lol

Just get them. If the rub is noticeable, just blast your radio when you drive and you won't hear it, but your truck will look tits... hahaha
