I believe you can get the current Techstream software from Toyota's TIS website. I've used that site for online doc. Not sure if you can get the TIS software w/o paying a $20 subscription - the cheapest available the last time I used it.

It's also my understanding the "hack" is a combination dll/text file that addresses login. It branches around the uid/pswd function.

Like many, I too have read up on this until I was dizzy, but did learn there can be differences in the quality of the cable you receive from the Chinese pirates. A cheap cable will not work, so you may be left wondering if you are dealing with a hardware/software issue.

Like one poster above, I too bought a used $40 laptop some time ago loaded with an ancient 32 bit Windows OS and nothing else. The stuff the Chinese ship you can be inundated with viruses that are competing with the TIS software for cpu cycles, thus possibly degrading the performance of TIS in addition to feeding your financial data to thieves on the other side of the world. The VM solution mentioned above should work, but that may only be available on professional licenses of Windows.

To date, I have not bothered with completing the project as I've found work-arounds for everything I need here at TW and what's available on generic scanners.
