Every now and then at work, I see weird stuff like Nissin pads for like $20... which are OE-quality pads. But generally, yeah, crap is cheap. If it's cheap and it's not a name you *know* is quality, odds are it's not quality.

I go with Advics or Akebono pads, and coated Raybestos (Napa) rotors. The pads are good, the rotors are reasonably priced (though not what I'd call cheap) and have a hassle-free warranty if I have a problem. I've never paid someone to do a brake job, figure I'll use that savings to get nice(r) stuff. It's not like I do it often.

Jesus Christ. Again, I’m NOT asking for crap. I’m asking for the cheapest (lowest priced) GOOD brakes.

If you have 3 different high quality brake kits, at $400, $450 and $475, and shot quality at $50, the cheapest good brakes are the $400 ones.

I have honestly had great luck woth autozone duralast break pads.

I forgot to add that means I have regular brake dust amounts, no squealong or noise, get about 60 thousand miles a set on the front wheels.

I also brake safely which of course is the most important thing.

Auto parts store stuff will work fine, it'll just be noisy, not last as long, and create more dust.

OEM is probably the best value for the dollar, but that's my $.o2

Ditto on the autozone brakelast or oreilly select ceramics. The top line pads average $60 and have a lifetime warranty - if the pads wear down evenly, they will be replaced when they wear down to 3mm. The parts dudes have told me this and scotty kilmer has also mentioned this on his car videos. I have them on my taco and es350; vehicles brake fine. I've used wagner thermoquiet pads before and they are also good pads; have them on daughter's camry. Have durago pads/rotors on the corolla; these are cheap lower end brake parts but they also stop fine.

Haha...agreed. I’m glad my condom-wearing days are long over.

Oh and OP...go with OEM brake pads for best results.

I like the TRD brake pads by the way, little dusty, improved stopping though. :)

Look on Autoanything site shows all types and 22% off today - fathers day.
I have Powerstop drilled and slotted with z36 pads as I tow my boat and trailers and wanted some increase in stopping power - help some. Better than stock. I still have stock calipers.
We just put the Powerstop complete 4 wheel plain old rotor set and pads on a hemi challenger and they work well too as the guy was feeling cheap - 1/3 to 1/2 less.
With all their pads read and follow the new pad/rotor burn in procedures as makes a big difference in the end result stopping response.
