    I have a theory here.

So, it occurs to me that of Toyota is like any other manufacturer of complex technology (computers, Televisions, etc) they have material buyers whose job it is to place orders on parts.

These buyers must estimate how much material they need for new manufacturing and for warranty replacement parts plus incidentals (think damage from collision).

Now what happened with the Pro grill was that demand was not accounted for, because the original material order did not identify a call for parts that included the DIY upgrade popularity of the Pro grill.

    So what happens?

Shortage of parts, means Toyota blocks supply by restricting access to VIN only, and raising prices to distributors.

Next, a new purchase of parts must be made, and possibly Toyota sends a request for bids to the very manufacturers who already have the specifications for the aftermarket parts.

Oh how funny it would be if both OEM and aftermarket were made in the same factory, by the same robot.

This is speculation, but the more I thought about it the more I thought that any profit motive on Toyota's behalf to own the aftermarket Pro Grill market is probably non-existent. Hell, the buyers may prefer that Non-pro owners fck off and get the aftermarket so they don't have to put batch orders just to keep up with new manufacturer demand.

    Just a guess

The same people who brag about always buying OEM also brag about paying cash for a truck that has between a 0.0% interest and 3.5%.

Now, unless you are horrible at investing, the money you spent on your truck would have returned a much higher interest.

Halsey is bad at love....some people are bad at math.

But the OEM is made of a rare alloy of Adamantium and Vibranium and forged by Eitri on Nivadelier.
