Right? Reminds me of the old saying - Good, fast or cheap, pick two.

What would be around your LCA “all the time”?

mic_sierra's post implied installing a 'tree saver' between the LCA's for the looks. that's where the 'all the time' question comes from

    absolutely never?

That is not what he is implying. Read it again. He pulls cars around in his yard using that method. Not just for looks.

If you think LCA are a good recovery point then go for it. If you off-road at all in these trucks you know how easy the alignment can get messed up. If you think trying to tug a stuck truck out by the lca is a good idea then good for you. It’s your truck. Do as you wish.

Ya, recovery isn't something you want to cheap out on. Nothing worse than breaking down somewhere and not having the right gear or having your gear fail. Do plenty of research, ask lots of questions, and then buy once, cry once, ha.

Or, get another front tow hook, paint em both red and put them on. I think that accent would look good. Personal opinions in here of course.

Not sure if you can put another tow hook on yhe other location though.

Yo OP, I think you asked about the hitch mounted shackle in the back? You are talking about a square chunk of steel that goes into your receiver and had a dring off the back? If so, I think you're good there. Most of the cheap ones on Amazon are 40k+ rated. I use one to tug and be tugged. Be aware, unless you lock them or keep them inside the truck tweakers will steal them.

If they shear off or break, you'll have a nice piece of shrapnel flying directly back at you or the recovery vehicle at about 100 mph.

Don't go cheap with recovery points for you truck, do it right or stay on the roads. Here is the cheapest solution that I went with. Good luck with your truck.
