    Mods? Whatever I can afford.
What's going on taco fam! Had this random idea one day to hold up my umbrella instead of the side of my seat. I just used 2 of my daughter's stretchy hair ties and looped them right around the umbrella. Works great! Now if that's not Cheap/Free for most, I don't know what is!

    Enjoy!

Great idea for the big umbrella! I keep my small one next to my seat, but now I know where to keep my large umbrella. Great idea!

That's a good idea but don't really use umbrella. Don't really care if I get soaked. I walk casually in the rain. Even if I use one, I would use smaller one. But it's the only place for a big umbrella beside the bed.

Fun idea. Only downside is that it could be a potential projectile in an accident.

PS: I keep a couple of collapsible umbrellas in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat.

That's a wonderful idea Jay! Don't worry about it being a projectile. Your head is going to be a projectile too, and a hard-to-hit moving target. Compact (but wide) umbrella on floor next to seat, Frogg Toggs in storage container in bed, three 10x12 tarps with guy ropes/long bungees already attached. Me like dry.

It's a great place to keep it stored under normal circumstances, but up that high I have to agree that in an accident storing it there might be a liability. I keep a compact travel umbrella on the floor behind the driver's seat. Less likely to fly around if it's down low.

Good to know many of us keep a umbrella in the truck. I also keep one poncho on rear pocket door. In case it rains and a flat tire. Front door pocket has a pocket knife, tire gauge.

I don't even close my sunroof when it rains... no need for an umbrella!

    All the things!
Added bonus: the wet umbrella will disguise the leaking 3rd brake light...

"Oh, my headliner's wet? Nah, that must be from the umbrella"

Provided the passenger is restrained and the head remains attached to the body, there's a small potential area of cabin space for the head(s) to occupy and it's stationary. Objects within the cab, and those that enter the cab are not constrained by the body (presumably restrained to the seat) and free to bounce and fly around the cab until the motion stops.

Lots of injuries occur in car crashes due to cargo and other objects bouncing around within the cockpit, same with other motor vehicle collisions.

It's a hand held portable shelter, but it only has roof, no sides. I hope this helps.
