I'm a first time Tacoma owner as of today. The first time I put key into the ignition, I got a "check charging system" warning. When I start the truck up, the warning goes away and there is no record of the message. Is there something wrong with the truck or is this normal startup stuff? I read some AI response about this how this feature is intended to let the operator know that the battery is being drained while in the "on" key position. Any insight would be welcome.
    Thanks.

    Normal.

If you want to keep the radio on, drive in movie, and drive an automatic, put the gear knob in Neutral, set parking brake, and turn off the ignition.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

    Normal.
Vehicles have done this for 60 years or more, the "ALT" or "GEN" light came on when the key was on but the engine not running.

Since modern vehicles use words on a screen instead of a light it really catches peoples eye - and imagination.

Yep, no big deal, this truck just makes it more apparent than most.

When any vehicle is on, but not running. The battery voltage is somewhere around 10-12 volts.

When the engine is running, the charging system is active and makes the battery voltage 13-14v.

The dash warning is programmed to come on for any voltage below 13 volts.

This site is what the Internet was built for -
Straight up information with a little teasing on the side.

I belonged to another 'automobile-brand-site' and the rantings and ravings about nothing made me wanna hurl.
After about a year of it I posted something so disgusting I got banned for life LOL... just what I wanted.
