Check dipstick when truck is hot or cold?

    Hot/cold doesn't matter, as stated.

    Level F/R and L/R does matter. A lot.

    If checking hot, engine needs to sit for a few minutes after shut off to allow drain back from top end of engine before checking.

    First pull of the stick just wipe off to eliminate the possibility of splash from it's last run, reinsert stick fully and then check the actual level.
