Recently installed Rough County Cold Air Intake on an 18 SR5. Seems to be using more gas and check light is on. Anyone else have this problem? Thoughts?

Lots of thoughts but I will keep it to the diagnosis. Make sure all clamps are tight and tubing is not damaged and fully seated. Make sure the air flow sensor is not damaged and fully plugged in. There cannot be air leaks between the sensor and throttle body. If you have issues beyond that, either read the code(s) or reinstall the OEM equipment and see if it duplicates.

Thanks I’ll read the codes tomorrow. I’ll double check everything. I’m open to some of your thoughts as well if you care to share?

The engine management system is obviously overwhelmed by the dramatic horsepower and torque gains the CAI is making.

You didn't find the OE CAI adequate?

I’d double down. Add a TRD skid plate with color matched TRD letters, and some raptor lights. I’d add a pair of sliders to avoid denting the rocker panels when showing off on Instagram with one tire up on a rock or log.

Add a roof rack, a bed rack and a roof top tent. Oh and install an expensive aftermarket suspension just so you can fit larger tires.

Or you could just take the CAI off.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I will freely admit that I'm mechanically impared), but don't these trucks come from the factory with cold air intake? If that's the case, why would you add an aftermarket CAI?

Grab a code reader and see what the CEL is.

retrace your steps. Make sure the maf is plugged in and oriented correctly, o ring isn’t torn. Then follow the piping from the maf to the throttle body and make sure there aren’t any gaps or leaks.

if all else fails, put the stock intake on, disconnect the battery for a couple sec and tap the brake pedal, then re connect and see if the code returns.

Did the intake require oil on the filter? If so some MAY have gotten onto the sensor and thrown a code . I would start with a clearing code if it pops back on try cleaning the sensor with a little brake cleaner and allow it to dry leave the battery disconnected while servicing and see. It's probably just a stored code from unplugging it with the battery connected or possibly having the ignition turned on for a sec .
