I have lifted my truck and put new wheels and tires on. I hope the dealer doesn't try to say that the issue is because of the changes I made. Wish me luck.

No, it just came on tonight. Dealer is closed (east coast time zone). I have to go to work early tomorrow and wont even be able to get to the dealer until about 1:00 tomorrow. On a Friday. And my wife is leaving for a cruise Saturday and was planning on taking her car to the Charlotte airport.
I'm really worried that the dealer is going to try to cop out and blame this on my aftermarket lift. I have all the parts to return it to stock. Should I do this before taking it to the dealer?

Borrow a code reader or have autozone read the code for you. Then we can tell what's going on.

As long as the code is unrelated you should be good I would think. I called Toyota and made a case and they gave me free 8yr warranty after 3 times going back to the dealer about it

I just talked to the guy who did my lift. He said he could turn mine back to stock on Saturday if I needed. Of course my alignment would be screwed up again. I might just take my chances with the dealership.

Ughhh. Just spent a couple of hours reading about VSC issues after lifting Tacomas. Hopefully, I can get this resolved.

Aftermarket components only void warranty if it was caused by said component. If you put a lift in and the CEL came on its not because of the lift. If the dealer says otherwise go to another dealer. Only time Ive had to deny warranty was when issues were caused by remote start installs or aftermarket trailer harnesses.

Had it checked today and it showed 4 codes. All related to gas vapors. Could have just been gas cap not screwed on right, but my rear AAL and shock installation could have messed up fuel line (according to dealer). I had them reset and I'm going to see how it goes for now.

    Any update on your truck?

Just picked up my new truck today and on the way home, bam - sudden shudder, and flashing check engine light and TRAC OFF. After the lights came on there was obviously something wrong - lots of obviously abnormal vibration especially when accelerating, and motor seemed sluggish. I was able to nurse it the final mile back home. Called the dealer and had it towed back - hopefully will know more in the morning.

Mine ended up being a bad evap canister. It was covered under warranty. Just a hassle of not having the truck for a few days. Hope yours is fixed quickly.

Yeah, should know more tomorrow when they pull the codes. Only 27 miles on it! Luckily I still have my old Taco in the meantime.

Quick question. I am getting a slight shudder when driving from about 20-50 mph while just cursing and under lite acceleration. Feels kinda like torque converter shudder, but really slight case of it. The other day after backing out of the driveway the traction control light blinked for a second then went off. Didn't think much about it until reading this thread. I have an appointment with Toyota in a week and a half to do a ride along with the tech. Just worried since it's a new truck. Do these symptoms sound like the problems you guys have been having?

Mines been at the dealership for 17 days now. Similar issues. I was driving down I40 at 75mph and the truck shut off. Kicked back on as I was coasting to shoulder and then shut off about 5 seconds later. Wouldn't start and no power. I pulled the main 30amp fuse and put it right back in. Truck started up and I was able to drive 1/3 mile before it happened again. Repeated process for a total of 6 times in 2 miles to get to a gas station and have it towed. Long story short I was able to get it to my dealership and it has been there since. Toyota flew the techs in and they went over it with a fine toot comb and could not replicate the problem. Completely replacing fuse box, wiring harness, and ECM. Hopefully I will get it back by this weekend.

Man I wouldn't accept that I would demand a new truck. These aren't 20k pickups anymore. I understand things happen, but I would draw the line at throwing parts at the truck to see what fixes it.

Yes and no. Service department had a look at the truck on Tuesday morning. It was throwing assorted codes related to misfiring. The lead tech at the dealership opened a technical case with Toyota and was waiting to hear back. On Wednesday, Toyota got back to the dealership and directed them to pull the fuel injectors. Based on their inspection, Toyota directed replacement of the fuel injectors and was pretty confident that it will solve the problem. My understanding is that there are two varieties on the truck - port and direct, and the port ones were the ones to be replaced. I haven't been able to get back to the dealership for a face-to-face, nor am I an automotive guy, so I can't explain much more than that. The service rep I've been speaking with said that Toyota seemed pretty definitive on the issue, almost like it is something they're already tracking. On Wednesday I also opened a case directly with Toyota to have the issue documented and start pushing for an extended warranty and/or replacement of the truck depending on the severity of the issue and success of repair. As of right now the dealership is waiting on the arrival of a new gasket before putting it all back together.

I got an update on mine. They recieved all but one of the replacement parts on Wednesday. Replaced the wiring harness on Wednesday. Supposed to have replaced the ECM yesterday. Performing a new tint job today (so far the only thing I have requested for my inconvenience) and are waiting on replacement speed sensors which should arrive Wednesday at the latest. Hopefully then I will have a truck that actually runs.

Did you call Toyota Corp for the extra warranty? I got that same code.
