I have a check engine light on my 95 Tacoma V6 and I'm trying to get the code using the method shown in this video which is to jump E1 and Te1 on the Diagnosis port.

However, I don't get any blinks on the CEL. It just stays solid. Am I doing something incorrectly? I've used a paperclip and copper wire like in the video but neither will cause the CEL to blink in order to give me the code.

I've never had any luck with the 3.4 using this method, that is a 95 4runner, which is akin to the hilux and has the 3.0 OBD 1

All 3.4s have the ports still due to international reasons but don't function due to OBD2. Simply you need a code reader.

Thank you. I thought I was going crazy but a quick Google search looks like you are correct.
