So...I took my 96 2.4l Tacoma mudding hit a pretty bad whole and got stuck well now the check engine light flashes when I do over 30 and the motor doesn't run right. What could it be? Water in the engine somewhere? No idea but then the next day it started running fine again and my check engine light is on like usual but not flashing anymore like could it just have been a little water and now it's gone?

The only way to know what a check engine light is trying to tell you is to read it with a scan tool.

Most parts houses will do that for free nowadays.

Since you say the truck is running fine, you could clear the code yourself by a battery disconnect, and see if it returns. If it returns, you need a reading to see what the problem is.

A flashing check engine light means a sever problem has occurred and u should not drive it till u check out the problem so u don't damage anything further.
