Oiled are for MAP based systems. Dry are for MAF based systems.

So you use the filter for the most sensitive sensor. The MAF.

My Tacoma does as well.

If you dont want to throw parts at it... you need to look at fuel trims during idle and cruise.

If you have high fuel trims at idle look for a vacuum leak

If you have hi trims at cruise or under load look at fuel delivery

 

Now THIS is why I came here today: Looking at my options now that my 2 years free maintenance has ended, and was tempted by the oiled filter option. But now I know better and will avoid needless pain down the road. Thanks, all.
Now, do I change over to full synth oil or not... Oh who am I kidding, of course I do!
