Started my truck yesterday and the CEL and Trac came on. I looked up the code (p2334) I think and it said something like secondary air valve not opening and exhaust temp too hot or something like that.

I just dropped it off at the St(d)ealership because this issue is isolated to Tacoma’s. What’s bothering me is when I first bought my 2012 the first thing I did was put an Uni filter on the SAIS and pulled out the old mess thing so this wouldn’t happen.

    any ideas or previous experiences?

Unfortunately the 2012's do not have the shutdown air purge to get rid of moisture buildup in the valves while being driven so even with the Uni filter you will still get issues like you have.

i was just lurking on a thread.... Maybe i should make my truck "off road only" and remove the SAIS entirely. It sounds like it doesnt do anything except cause issues

The Primary Coverage is applicable until February 28, 2019 with no year/mileage limitation.

After the Primary Coverage period ends, the Secondary Coverage is applicable for 10 years from the date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

i figured out its my valve sticking (and even though it was supposedly already replaced under a recall) it unsurprisingly broke again. So my truck will soon be "off road" only because im not doing this again in 100k miles

Read this before you do anything. Also check the "date of first use" of your truck.

....and let me tell you just how fun it is to be near stranded out in the middle of nowhere when it decides to go into limp mode. I've written about this a number of times but it happened on my '14 with 20ish thousand miles.
