I had an 06. My check engine light went out and I'm not sure how to fix it. When hooked up to obd everything reads fine, it's just the light that went out. Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm pretty sure this model out isn't just a bulb, it's an led.

when you turn on the accessory switch with the engine off is the CEL on? if not maybe the bulb just burned out (happened with my avalon).
PIA as i needed to change the bulb to get the car through state inspection…

Correct. It needs to come on to pass smog and it doesn't come on when you turn the key.

It's a simple circuit, single wire running from Connector E7 Pin 30 (Brown) at the PCM through Connector II1 Pin 9 (Brown) behind the right kick panel to Connector C9 Pin 17 (Brown) at the Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster).

The PCM grounds this wire to turn the light on so you either have an open in the wire, a faulty cluster, or a faulty PCM.
Key on you can use a test light to ground the wire starting at the PCM and working toward the cluster and see if the CEL illuminates.

I can post the relevant diagrams and pinouts, do you have the 2.7L 4 cyl or 4.0L V6 engine?

He means if you ground the wire that goes to the gauge cluster it should turn the light on. He's listing the connectors that the wire goes through on its way from the pcm to the cluster.

If you ground the wire and the light doesn't come on it likely needs a cluster. If it was a bulb (instead of led) you'd pull the cluster out, flip it over and replace the bulb

Grounding the BROWN wire @ pin 9 on the II1 connecter with the ignition ON should illuminate the light.

Thanks for the correction, looks like II1 is on the left side behind the glovebox. May be easier to test at the PCM although unless you have rodents it's unlikely an open wire.
