    Hello All.
The check engine light came on ( not flashing) on my 4L 2007 tacoma.
When I start the engine, it starts but stops right away. If I try a few more times, it finally starts.
I made sure the gaz cap was tight.
Any causes or tips you can give me?

First step is to scan it and see what code(s) you have.

I will for sure. But was wondering if it had happened to any of you and what the issue was.

I mean my hunch would be a failing fuel pump or security issue but that's a pure guess based on symptoms.

Do you have a blinking security light next to the clock with the key on?

No blinking light when the key is on. I was able to start it after 4 tries and there's a strong exhaust smell while it's running. Never had that before. The truck was fine yesterday and ut started this afternoon.

Gonna need codes, but does it only happen when the engine is cold or all of the time?

Your gona have to see what code(s) you have to proceed, anything else would be a pure guess.
There's hundreds of possible trouble codes so no sense in guessing at it.

It happened when starting it ( cold). It took me 4 tries to get it to run. I then went about 3km to train my dogs in a field. When I arrived, the truck wanted to stall, I turned around went back home. I tried to start it again and same rhing happened.
My guess is it will happen cold or hot. I left it running for 10 minutes in my driveway and turned it off. I tried starting it again and same thing happenned. The truck starts but the dies.

I mean it definitely sounds fuel related, my hunch is your gona have a P0171, 174 (fuel system lean bank 1 and 2), and maybe P0300(misfire). If that is the case next step is to check fuel pressure but like I said until you know the codes we can guess at it all day and get nowhere.

    Hello again!
I was able to get the codes this afternoon.
    The codes are:
    P0031
    P0037
    P0051
P0057. They're all codes for the Ho2S. All of them.
I find it strange that all of the sensors are defective at the same time .
I also had P0102 wixh is the MAF. I tested it and it's ok.
-I also read the spark plugs and the sparkplug wires could also cause this.
    - Or could it be caused by the catalitic converter being defective?
I started it twice today and the exaust had black smoke and smelled like 'gaz".
Is it possible to test if the catalitic converter is ok before going ahead to change all 4 sensors? Is it worth it?

Those are all o2 heater codes, the chance of them all failing at once is very slim.
Having all those codes as well as a MAF code and an intermittent stalling problem all at the same time makes me think you may have a main power or ground problem.
I think I'd start with inspecting the main grounds in the engine compartment.
