None of the odometer obd II tricks seem to work for checking the code. Do they actually work?
what’s the best code scanner to get?

You can get a cheap obdII dongle that plugs into the port and connects via WiFi or Bluetooth to your phone, the Torque app is free for the basic version and will read/clear codes.

Amazon sells the dongles for ~25 bucks give or take

LOL, yeah, they work. The 'right one' depends on a few factors but these are simple trucks so pretty much any decent reader works.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Your trying to complete all the test cycles??

Sometimes the the test short cuts work sometime not.

I like my Actron CP125 because it also reads the CAN system which I needed as well as OBII

CAN is a diagnostic system used on Mid Size Trucks

I think it was developed in Germany
