    Ok so my check engine light turned on this morning :confused: so I got really scared. Went to Auto zone for the code detector, the code was that the engine was running too cold or the temperature sensor wasn't working any more. What should I do? :confused:

    I went to autozone for the check engine light detector and the code said hat the engine was running too cold or the temperature sensor wasn't working any more.

    So what should I do, the guy on Auto zone said that the engine was running cold, what can I do with that?? Or that the temperature sensor wasn't working he said they work aprox 5 years, have you had any problems with yours?

    Temp sensors don't fail often.

    Is your temp gauge behaving any differently?

    A thermostat is much more likely to go bad than the sensor.

    Is the coolant totally full? Check the radiator (cold) as well as the overflow tank.

    I would be interested in exactly what code you have. A code that indicates no signal from a sensor (sensor disconnected or dead) would be different from a code that just says temp reading stays below a certain temp too long (engine never warms up).

    I call BS on that. I worked auto parts for three years, most sensors I sold were people chasing problems that they had no clue how to diagnose, or the vehicle was already quite old.

    the code is P0128 it says refrigerant temperature below temperature regulated by the thermostat.

    First make sure the coolant is topped off in the radiator itself, not just the overflow. If that's okay, I'd put a thermostat in it. Probably cheaper than the sensor, and sensors usually don't fail.

    +1, make sure your coolant level is good as stated. you might have sticking thermostat which can prevent the engine from getting to normal operating temp.
