    Hey guys,

Awhile back my check engine and slip indicator lights come on simultaneously. I didn't think much about it because my truck ran fine. However, I have come to find out that I do not have any sort of VSC. No abs, no traction control, no 'auto lsd', nothing. I have unhooked the battery to try to reset everything, but still no VSC. The truck does idle funny after a batter disconnect though which leads me to believe that the A/F sensor is definitely bad.

When I run the code reader its showing P0031, which is A/F sensor. I have ordered this part, along with the downstream sensor.

My question though, is could this bad A/F sensor have shut down the VSC system?

For what its worth, its a 2009 4 cylinder 4wd truck with manual transmission.

Generally when there's a trouble code (depending on the code) stored in the engine computer it will disable the stability and traction control because stability and traction control systems rely on being able to reliably regulate engine output in the event of wheel slip so for safety reasons it disables itself in the event of an engine control system malfunction.
The p0031 is an A/F sensor heater circuit code, likely the heater has failed in the A/F sensor.

There’s been a few guys have the VSC Light come on with emissions codes.
I’d focus on the A/F sensor. Once fixed. Clear the code and see what happens.

I remember a few guys having the VSC Light come on because of the gas cap.
No idea why it does it.

I figured I'd follow up here so its not a wasted thread...

Turns out the O2 sensor wasn't bad.. all along I had overlooked the fuse labeled 'A/F Heater', it was blown. (I feel SO stupid about this now. But you live and you learn right?)
I wish I had taken time to dwell on this before ordering a $100 part, but I had overlooked it before, and dang was I frustrated and intimidated by the whole thing considering the VSC light was on with the check engine.

Fast forward to replacing the O2 sensor and fuse, the check engine light is out, VSC light still on.

I then followed the instructions in the hand dandy "reset your VSC system the easy way" thread on here and we are back in business.

I hope this may help someone else. It was damn intimidating to me having the VSC light on with the check engine light. Thanks to DMm93 and TnShooter, it was reassuring to know that the loss of VSC was likely related to whatever issue triggered the check engine light... at one point I was convinced Id never get it fixed without going to a Toyota shop.

Glad you found it:thumbsup:, you had one of the few that wasn't simply a bad A/F heater, now to figure out what blew the fuse.
