Check Engine (P2442) came on then went off.

Anyone ever have the Check Engine Code P2442 ("Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Open Bank 2) come on and then go off after a few days?
Fix is beyond my ability and was quoted at maybe $1400 depending. Love to skate on, but also don't want to blow the engine. Anyone experience something similar.

Are you sure it's not a P4240 or P2441 code? The 2.7L can't set a P2442 or P2443.

 

Shoot. I might be off on the number - I have the print out from auto zone at work - but is definitely said: Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Open Bank 2.
My mechanic friend said he fixed same thing recently on the 4 cylinder 2.7.

 

It would have to be for bank 1 (the 2.7L doesn't have a bank 2) but if it's indeed a stuck open valve you have a few options.

Replace it.

Take it off and try to clean it.

If you are in a non emissions testing area install the @hewitt-tech SAIS bypass.

Or live with the light.
