Did you recently fill with fuel?

If so, remove and reinstall your gas cap.

I had the same thing after I got a locking gas cap. It's probably the same thing. Get it scanned at auto zone. I bet it would be related to your evap system.

Added 3000watt inverter with 2 extra deep cycle batteries.
My Check engine and Trac off lights came on. Checked online. Said to disconnect the pos on battery for 3 minutes and clean the gas cap and spout with a cloth and rubbing alcohol. Lights went out but back on the next morning. ( vehicle has low power to get up to speed. Had to shop. Code is (I think) injection blower. Said there is a kit to bypass. Anybody do this?

I'd get it to a good tech, online search is a guessing game, in hopes of a "free" fix.

    welcome BTW!

    A code reader would help.
Those two lights are most likely a small leak in the evap system.
That small leak is most likely the gas cap.

    You should read the codes.

But mine also goes off in the winter. On mine particularly the charcoal emissions check fails when its wet outside. Its a peice of crap check in my opinion. Mine clears once there is about a week of warmer/drier weather.

Isnt it nice how when the car flags something its like, no, you cant have anti slip (under 32mph). Id rather you get in a wreck, and no, you cant use cruise control. Id rather you get cramps holding down the pedal for an hour. That will teach you for owning a semi modern vehicle!

Wouldnt it be entertaining to find that its just the battery come age and needs to be replaced. Voltage is a bit low in the winter to get the results out of the emissions test it wants.

Probably not, but its worth entertaining. People on here have have had a multitude of issues from a low voltage battery. New charcoal unit is around $500 or more. Battery, much cheaper and mines already 7 years old!

By the way OP, thats just my situation, you really ought to read the codes.

Thanks for all the info guys

Supposedly its the Canister thing between the gas tank and the truck bed.

Will probably just replace it and hopefully that fixes it

When my gas was not sealing I would get a solid Check Engine Light with an intermittent Trac Off light. It would eventually clear itself once sealed or I could use my scanner to clear it.

Has anyone else reported this issue to Transport Canada or other authorities to press for a recall. i did yesterday but only one other person has apparently made the call. ( Probably because I was on hold for 45 minutes before getting through) I feel it’s a safety issue because I managed to get onto a 100 series highway before I discoverered I had no power to get up to speed.
Make the call if you have time.
