Did any one notice he put the TRD Supercharger on it. You have to run premium gas if you have the supercharger. I was going to add that to my truck. But when I found you had to use premium,No Thanks!

Also why do people carpet the bed of a truck? Especially a 4x4.That just made the bed useless.

I bet everyone is shocked there aren't any bids(hear the sarcasm in my voice?).

I'm sure they're factoring in labor costs along with the aftermarket parts, that's the only way I could see it being close to $40,000, but even that's pushing it I think.

As for having to run premium fuel with the supercharger, for a full tank it's only a couple bucks difference over regular. I'd pay that for the extra performance. I'm already being raped by the $4.09/gallon, what's a few more cents/gallon?

My last car had about 10 grand worth of aftermarket parts. Before I traded it in I parted it out and put the stock parts back on. I'm still trying to sell some of the parts, but let's just say I'll be lucky to make about 1/3 to 1/2 of it back.

This truck is like any custom one-off (hot rod, chopper, house, etc.) Way more money is put into it than the owner will ever get out of it. The fact that it got dumped off at a place that sells Lotus’s and Shelby’s tells me the owner didn’t care about getting his money out of it. That’s why I think it was a cost-is-no-object project that he got bored of. If you have a shit load of money that’s the truck you might build. Then when you get bored of it you trade it in for a Cobra. This is all speculation of course. But if I was interested I’d be offering less than 40K since there are so few people that would be interested in a truck like this.

The truck looks like it should be in a remake of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. "Two trucks enter, one truck leaves!"

No way that truck is worth $40K. Anyone knows you never get your mod money back unless you find a buyer who specifically wants everything you've done or you part it out.

So you'll spend $3750 plus install for the SC but then you're afraid to put premium in it? Sounds a bit illogical to me.

even parting it out or selling to someone with the same ideas you'll prob never get close to what you got in it...just the way depreciation goes

as far as premium fuel...i think its logical...id avoid purchasing a vehicle that id HAVE to run premium in...same as id avoid a mod that requires it

sure i can drop $60K on a cadillac or $4K on a supercharger...but that doesnt mean i want to pay an extra 30 cents per gallon EVERY time i fill up

maybe if gas prices were so exorbitantly high and i made a little more money id think differently...but the ownership cost is higher than the ownership benefit to me as well

Exactly my point. Like I said, spending $4K (approx) is a heck of a lot more than the extra $.20 per gallon (that's what premium is locally here) you'd be spending. Assuming a once a week fill up, approx 16 gallons, that's an extra $3.20/week, or $166.40/year. You're telling me you wouldn't buy an SC because you don't want to spend an extra $200 (rounding up) a year? Again, illogical.

The truck is so heavily modified that probably no dealer will touch it; hence it says twice on the ad that it is sold AS IS, not AS IS with remainder of manufacturers warranty but the dealer/shop will sell you a warranty. Technically Toyota could warrant items such as a broken knob , seat latch handle, or any minor item not related to driveline or suspension. There is just not to much Toyota installed stuff left to warrant.

Unfortunately, some mountain kid fresh from boot camp is going to buy that thing and have it for a year before it gets repossessed. The interest rate he gets will take most of his E-2 check and it will be sold by a bank for $20K.

Who else in their right mind would buy it?

--> By the way, while I was in the Navy, I counseled countless young sailors on credit and being ripped off. It just tore me up to see these kids get taken advantage of.

There are a lot of guys in this forum with heavily modified Tacoma’s. After reading through this thread you all know where you stand if you ever want to sell it.

I'm doing it wrong. I thought it was "modify a truck to make it heavier."

    Interesting,

If your truck and its “painted grill” was on eBay everyone would be assuming it was a hack job. In Klown’s words no one would even piss on it. Of course we all know better. The painted grill work looks awesome!

Thanks, man! I used a 2-step process of black with a metallic overlay and kept it in the shade until it dried. I'm stunned by how much it changed the entire look and feel of the truck!

LOL, I would piss on a truck with a painted grill.

I wouldn't piss on a 40k truck with extensive drivetrain mods
