Yea, i have... Idealy i would like 2 sets of wheels. One set for off road, one set for on. My stock set is a 21" front 17" rear. The 17 is harder to find good knobies for. There are some that are quite a bit better, but i chose that rear because of it highway life. It can do over 6000 mi on the highway. Even most highway knobies will only do half that.

I would like to run a 21" 18" F/R setup for offroad, and a 17" 17" F/R setup for highway. That would give it some awesome supermoto / sportbike handling on the road.

It just takes so long to swap tires on the wheels.

There are better bikes for knarly off road, that is for sure. But this is my only bike, and for that purpose, i love. I can drag the pegs (with those tires) in the twisties, and take some pretty knarly stuff off road. It doesn't need that much power off road, but for having fun on the 2 lane, its pretty nice!!!

just curious why not give the saddle boxes to the trucks so it saves you some weight and makes it easier to balance?

I did offload most of my gear out of them. I kept my tools, spare tube, and survival stuff.

The bike is actually way easier to pick up with the side cases on. It keeps it from laying straight horizontal. keeps rest of the bike off the ground.

Pelicans have a lifetime warranty against leakage... not sure they meant for their boxes to be used like this, but they will still honor it. The rest of the bike does not have a warranty against crashing...

    I wish!!!!

I do hope to get some suspension upgrades this spring. That is where this bike is lacking the most.

I with a new front fork, and a steering stabilizer, this should be a completely different beast off road.

Also, when we went down to the Overland Rally in Hollister, CA, I got some one on one with Mike Krynock. He has raced and finished Paris Dakar (when it was in Africa) and the Baja 1000. He showed me some bad habits i had developed and taught me LOTS. He had me running on some pretty gnarly single track by the end of the weekend.

That was after we had shot both of these episodes. Watching them now is a little painful "why was i sitting down there... why did i do that... " etc.

Thats what learning is for i guess

me and my daughter watched both videos last night and were wondering is there a website to find more trails for weekend warriors all over the US, or are they mainly in the northwest?

I have no idea about where you are at. There are usually lots of places to go everywhere, Its just a matter of finding them. All of the western states have lots of off roading. Mt, Wy, Co, Id, Nv, Az Nm, Tx, Ca, Or, Wa, and Ut. I have not off roaded in all of them, but in a few. I know they all have lots of places to go. The state websites usually have the trail maps. You can also check the regional areas of 4x4 forums and find good places to go.

We dont have anything planned for Idaho, and I dont know of anything in particular, but I owuld think there would have to be some good stuff. I just kinda assumed, based on what there is in Mt Wy and what I have heard about in Nevada and Oregon as well.

Also, we just made a new video about 2 weeks ago, it was pretty fun, check it out!!

If you're the guy narrating the 1st video you sound like the guy narrating from dust to glory.

Nope, not me. If you are speaking of the Moab short video, then that was Jordan. The 2 full length episodes on our website Clay is narrating.

Glad I stumbled upon this post. Those are great video's and are the exact same type of offroading I like to do. That is why I switched from the Jeep Wrangler to the Tacoma.
You guys should try and shoot an epidsode down here in CO this summer. There are a number of great passes you can do here.

Keep up the good work, and I will be watching for the next episode!

    Ryan,

I like all 3 episodes! Wish they were longer but oh well... :)

Do you carry extra gas? Could you guys do a walk around of each vehicle and share the mods and such done and what has helped in different situations? maybe tools you carry? (great for sponsors...) Just trying to help, you guys probably have all this in the works though.

Are you guys going to come up to Alaska for an episode or two? Great scenery and northern lights! :D

---in episode 3 doesn't Clay get mad about the chain/flare dent*? and he suggests rolling the window down--Was not he the same guy who demands the windows be kept up to avoid dust getting in? lmao

    *EDIT-I would be mad too
