Quite excited that I achieved this!!

    302.7 @ 18.65 MPG...

I bought this truck 2 years ago at 167k averaging 14.4-16.4 mpg. I drive a lot of highway. I was going thru a tank of gas every 3-4 days. I have done a lot of TLC maintenance on this truck, better tires with correct psi all the time and various mods and a de sludged motor is quite an achievement.. Oh yeah truck is currently at 185k with original fuel filter! Ha!

Love it made me so happy to roll into the 300 mile club and improving this truck all around!

Congrats. Change that fuel filter and see what happens. Mine was filthy at 168k.

Why is your ECT selected off? It changes the shift points in the transmission. Instead off changing gear at a lower rpm it changes at a little higher rpm. Fuel consumption right there.

@ ARB... Its selected to ECT Power... Its always been on that since I bought it. I have never really noticed much of a difference on or off... So would you care to elaborate on your statement? Theres no way I can get much better than what I am at now.. The truck is 15 city and 18-19 hwy with a combined 16 mpg.... Id love to know what true benfits the ECT Power option has vs not.. I understand its supposed to allow the engine to rev higher, but is that all?

Cool.. not sure how come some of you guys barely get to 200. I am averaging 340 miles on a tank. I mean could this big difference be due to a manual trans?

What did you use to de-sludge your engine?

@ 04Yota. For the last year and half I have been changing the oil ranging from 1k-5k miles.

What I normally do is change right before the 3k mark.

    Method:
First year of doing this method.
-Change oil, let it drain till no more dripping.
-Change Filter every other Oil change.
-Use regular 5w30 oil. (Use same everytime)
-I also have been adding Oil Additive every time I change it.

    The last few changes: 3k-5k
-Change Oil, drain till no drips.
    -Change Filter every time.
-Use same 5w30 oil as before.
    -Still using Oil Additive.

I HAD to do this because I will be supercharging this engine this year !

Since Im a tech I have access to alot of different materials to clean carbon and what not. I have probably done 10-15 Fuel Flushes (Kit from Toyota). I also clean the throttle body and MAF sensor if dirty. Keeping my K&N Filter clean as well.

Seafoam is ok. Not a fan of it bc I dont feel it does as good as a job as the chemicals I have been using.

Sounds good. I recently purchased this truck and it only has 90k, but shouldn't we be using 10w 30 oil for wear and tear?

I have heard about seafoam, but not sure how bad this could be to our cat converter, wit all that smoke pushing out the exhaust

OP, 04yota asked you what you're using to clean your engine with and you didn't answer the question! So I'll ask you, what are you using to clean your engine with that's so special and giving you the excellent results you're claiming.

Unless you're an egineneer for NASA and have the exclusive rights to some secret formula, it will be no mystery and is available even through Toyota.

    So what is it, Snakeoil?

3.4 liter double cab, I'll post a picture later of the Ultra Gauge showing mpg. I think I am at 20.4 x 18.5 = 377

I also went down to P245/75R16 Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires

Ect power mode is better used around city, passing, towing, and merging onto the highway. Use wisely
