2020 TRD OR coming out of Mexico on 02/20. 3 of 4 bolts on each side were not up to spec (a little odd); 4th bolt was at 52 lb-ft. They were not super loose, maybe 1/8-1/4 turn each.

It's almost like whoever installed them gave just a few more ugga-duggas to the first bolt on each side than all the others. Or maybe they had to run their impacts off of pancake compressors that day. Anywho, all torqued to spec now. That's at least 20hp more.

I think it is 19mm? Wait on verification though.

I would say to pick up the deep impact socket from HF? The full set is something like $20 and they're good and fit tight.

Good call......for $20 it would be good to have more options! Gonna head there to pick up a new floor jack anyways. Thanks

    You're welcome!

Yeah. They have worked great for normal ratchet use and with my corded impact driver.

Well i just checked my 2020 ac built in texas for those loose U bolt nuts. I can tell you they were all very tight cranked down to at least 75 ft.lbs. when i put my 1/2 matco torque wrench on them. Not one nut even gave a hint of moving.

@tonered right on the money, 19mm or 3/4" if you're in a pinch.

    Hey, Jeff.

You might be more in tune with this. Any idea what the situation is with the loose U bolts? This is my first leaf spring vehicle since HS, and then, we never touched them. Of course back then, torque wrenches were as furrin' as the cars. :D

Within about 500mi of new, mine were loose enough to be heard and felt with slack throttle in the upper gears. I check them every 10k or so now and they are still as solid as I left them.

    Thanks for this! I torqued my 2020 SR's U-bolts to 52 ft-lbs. They were probably at 37 ft-lbs before.

Its about what i checked mine at after seeing the dia.size u-bolts...i set my torque wrench at 55 ft. lbs. in which they had been torqued to at least that at the factory.

Imo, i think 73 ft. lbs. was too much. After thinking about it, i double checked, and set mine to 55 ft.lbs. Their still plenty tight. Don't know if they need be as tight as you would torque tire lug nuts.

I dunno. A lot of people are doing 73 because the service manual has it at 37...... probably as a typo, so I went with 73.

Started at 25lbs and increased it to 5lb increments until I got to 60lbs, none of them required any additional torque.

A Texas torque wrench must have been used at the Texas factory on mine

If you have not checked yours yet - GET YOUR ASS UNDER THERE AND CHECK...
Mine is a 2020 TRD Sport built 06/20 and has 1,170 miles on it. I have not been off road yet, but it took between 2 full turns and 2-1/2 full turns to bring it up to 55 ft. Lbs. on every single nut. “WTF”
I should have dialed back the torque wrench to see what they were set at, but not much comes to mind.
Are there any other bolts I need to be checking?
This isn’t an inconvenience - this is a safety issue

I checked mine, they were so tight i initially couldn't move them. I ended up getting a 1/2'' breaker bar, and loosening them then re-torqueing to 55 lbs. Figured that should be safe.
