I guess if you have one of those rear ends that howl, its easy to loosen those u bolts when they need to replace it.

Torqued mine too 52 ft lbs. Each nut moved about 1/2 - 1 turns after tightening multiple times in a criss-cross pattern until they stopped moving.

I've recently had a rattling sound coming the the rear of my 2016 dcsb off road and got under it yesterday to check the unbolts, thinking this might be causing the metal rattle when going over a bumpy road. All seem to be torqued to 70 ft lbs already.

I purchased the truck from a guy here in the forums, so he may have already tightened them up, but now I'm stumped as to where the noise is coming from.

Felt compelled to check. About half were at least 52, the other half were somewhere between 42 and 52. 2 in particular needed at least half a turn. Doubt it was a problem, but worth putting to spec.

Total dummy here guys but i just checked my 2022 utilty with a less that 1 year old harbor freight torque wrench and i set it for 55 lb lbs .So if they are already tight enough would the torque wrench immediately start clicking ?It never clicked and i was really horsing the wrench and im a pretty strong dude 200+lbs .I wasnt giving it all i had but they were turning and they felt pretty tight but didnt get any clicks on the wrench?Any insights ?Like i said total noob with torque wrenches but i assumed if they were already tight enough it would easily start slipping and clicking.(im paranoid my wrench is broke and im overtightening)Thx guys

My Proto 1/2 drive torque wrench settings are from 60ftb’s to 200ftb’s., so I guess I’ll go with the lowest setting of 60ftb’s and call it good. Also , I wish I knew somebody around me that could calibrate my wrench properly. I’ve seen some you tube videos on homemade ways to calibrate the wrench but that is about as accurate as throwing horseshoes.
