I didn't use my torque wrench - just got a feel for how tight or loose they were and added a good crank to it.

Manual says 30 ft/lbs. I think I went over that but not by much.

I went looking for the specs for the cab mounts but couldn't find them. Someone here probably has them.

IIRC, my 1st gen was around 85. During the holidays, I torqued my 2016 U bolts to 70..

All this angst over the u-bolts. Has anyone had a rear axle fall off yet?

Wanting critical components torqued correctly isn't angst, it's called maintenance.

Exactly; don't change it until it stops running. Otherwise you're just throwing your money away at big oil.

Just checked mine. Two were at or above 52. Five were very close to 52 (turned slightly), and one required 1/2 turn to reach 52.

Yeah why waste beer money on oil. When it quits running you can always take the bus.

Truck built 3rd week of January. I ran the truck for a week and at 100 miles on the truck U-Bolts were under spec. About 40 lbs. Re-torqued all the nuts to 52 ft lbs.
Also checked the lug nuts and all were at spec at 82 Ft lbs. Better safe than sorry.

Checked my u-bolts at about 500 miles and all were at 52 ft lbs except two, they weren't far off though. Unless I get some creeking or experience any problems the factory 52 ft lbs seemed sufficient to me.

Just torqued mine. Each took 1/8 to 1/4 turn to get to 52 ft-lb. To me that's not particularly surprising or concerning after putting 2700 miles on since last touched at factory. Mine's a Baja (not San Antonio) build, FWIW.

As people easily catch that torque apply on a bolt to create appropriate amount of tension on the rod. So required torque calculated based on friction factor along with thread times tension required. Since friction coefficient is highly dependent on the condition of the surface, there are some variations on the tension introduced. Which means torque method is not accurate way to introduce the tension required.

U bolt paired to have equivalent tension on both legs(rods) if the other end freely rotate. Which means if you torque more on one side, the other side will have more tension and will have higher torque resistance. So order of torquing matters.

U bolt will be bent on cap side and elongated on rod sides when you apply some torque while common single rod bolt only elongated under tension. Usually bending is weaker(flexible) side compared to tension. Which means same size U bolt will have less capacity than single rod bolt in terms of elastic limit. Therefore, adding more torque based on torque limit specified for single rod bolt might permanently bend the u bolt.
