Where do I buy the grease and a grease gun. Do I have to use different greases or can't I just put 1 type of grease in all of them?

Hopefully I don't anger anyone with these questions but I read a bunch of the posts on here and it seems like some people just got 1 grease and some got like 3 different greases. I just don't understand...

wow, good info. I've got 8000 miles already and have done some fairly extensive wheeling under deep water. I hope there is still a little factory grease left until I get to it.

I'm not a mechanic but I used one grease for all three. Any local auto store should have the grease gun and grease you need. I went to Canadian tire and got mine there (not sure of what stores in the States, but any auto store or probably even Walmart).

I'd suggest a pistol grip gun as it lets you squeeze with one hand and hold the nozzle onto the nipple with your other. The grease needs to say "NLGI #2" on it. I used Lucas Oil's "Red N Tacky #2"

Any ngli #2 grease will work. Valvoline has a "Japanese vehicle" blend, Lucas has multiple blends, I always run the Lucas green "heavy duty" grease. We always had it around for the dump trucks, backhoes, etc. It's good for basically anything and is water resistant, and a drop point of 540. In addition to heavy equipment we use it on the atvs/utvs, etc

Just grab some grease and lube em, anything is better than nothing lol.

The sealed u joints seemed to way out perform the regular joints even when greased regularly. I still like the greasable type. It just makes me feel better knowing it's full. Also you can see rust come out and change it before it fails, and it makes you visually check it vs. not having to get under the truck. Most of the non service joints will go at least 100,000 mi. with no problem. Probably won't get that out of a greasable one in my experience.

I don't mean to be a dick, but that was covered in this thread in great detail. In fact, I wrote a post answering exactly those questions a few pages back. You can get all you need on Amazon.

LIncoln or Alemite are both good guns and should last for decades. Also get a long hose it helps alot.

look at bottom of thread and you will see Products Discussed in this Thread, there you will find one synthetic grease and the other organic grease(not organic, but you get my drift) and a few grease guns. I ordered Valvoline VV985 and a 20.00 gun from Amazon...done deal. Think it was 54.00 for 2 day delivery total.

Try the Chevron DELO. Tried and proven on construction severe service equipment. Best I found in 35yrs on the job.

anyone have issues with the very front zerk... mines angled just right that i cant even get the damn grease gun to attach to... driving me nuts. there doesnt appear to be enough space to fit that damn thing, and im not new to this sort of thing. I maintain an entire fleet of work trucks in the offseason.

Did mine, all 5 were dry.. Thanks for the heads up.. Pistol grip grease gun with hose & lucas oil green.. The aft U-joint on the front shaft was a bitch but was able to get it to purge without taking off the mini skid.

Very front? What you're describing sounds like the "rear" front zerk, in front of the transfer case. That one was a bitch for me. The very front on mine is easily accessible and not angled.
