When I had the last free service done at the dealer on my 2017 AC 4x4 OR I asked the dealer to lube the drive shaft and the service writer quoted me $411 to do that. I just laughed and told him never mind.
I told him "it's 2 grease fittings" and he said that's what we charge. I grease them twice a year and that seems to be fine. My '07 prerunner had 170k miles on it when I sold it and had sealed u-joints that were still tight.

Did my first oil change today. I figured I'd grease the shaft while I was at it. I was shocked to find no zerks, not even on the front shaft.

I hope they last! That scares me a bit.

I've seen the pics. I am sure they are not there on my truck. Just curious, was your truck built in Texas? Mine was. Maybe that is the difference?

I will look again after work just for my own sanity so I am 100% certain.

The front zerks are very hard to find.....way down in the crotch, not on the end like others.....

Good luck....I bet you got em.

Okay newbie here. Been searching the forums hence how I found this old one still alive

I bought a 17 4wd and it appears by service records the previous owner did not lube and torque the propeller shaft at the recommended 30k miles. After looking through this thread I think it’s a little more out of my wheel house. My brothers taught me basics of cars not 4wd trucks.

Anyone have any idea how much the dealer would charge on doing this service?

It should be. I have the same year and model DCSB. I was able to find all the fittings. Did your UJoints crap out on you?

mine is a DCSB as well. I'm pretty sure it's my ujoints. I've got that low vibrating hum that gets louder up to about 45 mph. I've already replaced both front hubs. I also never knew I was suppose to grease them up until a couple weeks ago.

I went mudding last year and ended up in about 4' of mud funk. It took hours to finally get out. at that point, damage was done. I had to replace all the tension pulley bearings and my front hubs. I'm thinking this just another piece to that puzzle of bad decisions. lol

Thanks to this thread I was able to get down and find them. I’m glad someone mentioned to take the plate off. I think the hardest part was getting it back off of the zerk fitting and crawling underneath the truck from back to front double checking for any others. Much appreciated.

Just went through almost the entire thread. Just checked the front shaft on my 2021 Pro, and didn't find any. Obviously checked the rears and nothing as expected.

I tried taking some photos for reference. Am I perhaps missing something?

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if you saw my photos, but I checked everywhere and its my understanding that the zerk fittings are in the "crotch" of the spider. I tried feeling for them and you can see in the photos, that they are not there.

They eliminated the zerks from the front shaft over the past couple years too.
